We have a rubbish owl one that turns off after 10 mins or so and the batteries last about a week!

Is there a plug in one that stays on for 12 hours?

An old phone/app is what we've always used.

I use a free app called Rain Rain. There are a variety of sounds including rain (obviously) and white noise and things like washing machines, the noise you hear when you’re in a plane, waves, all sorts. You can programme how long it stays on for and doesn’t interrupt alarms or do not disturb mode.

We use an iPad with Apple Music, very easy to put some classical music on repeat.

I use an old CD player, on radio knocked to fuzz. Grinworks a treat. For Dd I think it's more about dulling background noise.

We had a skiphop owl one that went on all night with a nightlight too and a selection of noises inc nice nature ones. Was about forty quid though

Knockthreetimes · 10/04/2020 19:29

I used my Amazon echo just told Alexa to play white noise on loop

Bubbletrouble43 · 10/04/2020 19:29

And yes the skiphop owl plugs into the wall.

Napssavelives · 10/04/2020 19:29

Alexa plays white noise

dottyp0104 · 10/04/2020 19:29

Try a fan. My daughter sleeps with hers on every night. Shes 8 now

Napssavelives · 10/04/2020 19:29

Just ask for on loop and it’ll play al night

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 10/04/2020 19:29

Do you have an Alexa? It has a sleep app, that plays loads of different sounds.

Pentium85 · 10/04/2020 19:30

YouTube.

scattercushion17 · 10/04/2020 19:30

I use relax melodies app, there's no time limit.

Redwinestillfine · 10/04/2020 19:30

Get a dehumidifier and set to always....

Stringervest · 10/04/2020 19:31

We have two of the above and they are great, one has been going strong for several years now

itshappened · 10/04/2020 19:31

I use a myhummy for my baby... it stays on for 12 hours but will go quiet when baby is asleep and will switch back on as soon as it detects the baby stirring.

LutherRalph1 · 10/04/2020 19:31

What @Stringervest said, love ours!

babysnowman · 10/04/2020 19:32

We have a myhummy one, whichever model it is has a setting that stays on for 12 hours, the noise fades out after a while but if baby makes a noise it will kick back in.

Weregoingonanadventure · 10/04/2020 19:32

Alexa does it.

babysnowman · 10/04/2020 19:32

@itshappened cross post!

Weregoingonanadventure · 10/04/2020 19:34

@Redwinestillfine
Um, running a dehumidifier all night is going to cost more than using a phone app or something similar. Why would you pay to run a dehumidifier for 12 hours every single day when you just want the white noise?

AllTheCakes · 10/04/2020 19:34

I used to use it on a Google home but it switched off randomly if there was ever a power cut or the WiFi went off which woke DC up. We got a proper white noise machine from Amazon which is brilliant. Can be on all night with absolutely no interruptions as works on both power and battery.

sqirrelfriends · 10/04/2020 19:37

I think I got that owl for DS, utter shite. The light was useful for night feeds though.

We got a Sonos for the baby's room (any speaker will do) and just play a loopable white noise track on repeat.
