Confused as to where baby should sleep during the day

Hi
I am a first time mum to be and trying to buy everything in preparation. The pram (nuna mixx) comes with a carrycot but no available stand in the UK. I was thinking of a Next to Me crib with the side down. I’ll also get a bouncer that lays flat. However, i’m confused about where to put him to sleep during the day. If i use carrycot then it will have to stay attached to the pram (as no stand). I don’t really want to move the upstairs crib and sleeping in a bouncer isn’t ideal? Will i need to get a moses basket just for downstairs?

Can't the carrycot just go flat on the floor? It won't need a stand.

Celebelly · 10/06/2019 22:35

Although they get a bad rap on here for being useless, we got a ton of use out of our £40 Moses basket in the first three months, which made it well worth the money. She slept in it any time she was downstairs or upstairs in a room that wasn't our bedroom and then in her Next to Me at night.

DaffodilSunshine · 10/06/2019 22:36

I parked the pram in the corner of the lounge and he slept in the carrycot of that

MyNewBearTotoro · 10/06/2019 22:38

I just used the pram indoors - doesn’t the pram chassis work the same as a stand if you put the brakes on? Or you can usually take the carry cot out and put it on the floor or on a low and stable coffee table etc.

Helpmebeauty · 10/06/2019 22:38

Mine slept either on me or travel cot

RainbowMum11 · 10/06/2019 22:40

Mine slept either in pram or on me/in sling in the daytime. Occasionally I'd be able to put her down on her mat on the floor but generally in pram or on me.

queensvillage1 · 10/06/2019 22:42

I have a next to me in the bedroom ( best thing I bought!) and a Moses basket in the front room for day time naps. My DS is 4 months old and is outgrowing the basket now so will try and put him upstairs for daytime naps now he is in much more of a routine and a predictable sleeping pattern

SlimGin · 10/06/2019 22:47

I also used the pram indoors. So useful if you go on a walk and don't want to wake baby up and also to put the baby in and rock to sleep.

PregnantOnPurpose · 10/06/2019 22:51

I have a 3 in 1 rockers.. I'm only 7weeks, it's a gift for my SIL but plans changed so I'm now going to use it and refit it to her when she tries again.

It's a bouncer/rocker thing but then it lies flat, but off the ground like a carry cot shape for sleeping in. Looks really useful.

I got it from mothercare.

PregnantOnPurpose · 10/06/2019 22:52

This is what I have. Its tucked away in the what will be, nursery.

Expressedways · 10/06/2019 22:56

A bouncer, particularly if it lies flat, will be fine for supervised daytime naps (just not overnight sleeping). Rather defeats the point of having one if you can’t use it for naps!
Otherwise carrycot of the pram, either on the pram frame or just pop it down on the floor.

Cornishmum00 · 10/06/2019 23:00

We used a bouncer for downstairs, or the pram if you are able to bring it indoors

TrixieFranklin · 10/06/2019 23:03

We used Moses baskets for our twins but found it annoying to move them upstairs and then downstairs. We are now expecting DC3 and already have 2 of everything so have set up one Moses basket upstairs and one downstairs so night or day there's always somewhere to plonk them down.

Frusty · 10/06/2019 23:07

It’s no problem to leave the carrycot attached to the pram - plus you can rock it a bit.
Also no problem to have the carrycot on the floor, unless you’ve something dangerous down there (pet python for example)

AbbyHammond · 10/06/2019 23:08

Mine napped in the pram in the hallway or in a baby chair/swing.

anothernotherone · 10/06/2019 23:08

My dc1 slept in a travel cot in the living room from as soon as I could put him in it post c section. Before that on me mostly. Dc1 could barely be put down until she could move herself by rolling, which luckily was fairly early, because of reflux. Once they can I'll most newborn options aren't safe, and she mostly slept on a playmat on the floor. I'd have put her in a travel cot if I'd have thought of it/ had one at that point.

anothernotherone · 10/06/2019 23:09

Once they can *roll that should be

MissYeti · 10/06/2019 23:11

Another vote for the pram; it's so convenient. Also if DS fell asleep on his play gym we just let him nap on the floor

HabbyHadno · 10/06/2019 23:12

I got a Moba basket that DD likes, we also use the bouncer too or she naps on me.

owlofathena · 10/06/2019 23:17

Another one that used the carrycot on the pram. When dd was a few months old she would often fall asleep under her play gym but most of the time napped in carrycot until she was about six months old when I introduced naps on her cot upstairs

PotolBabu · 10/06/2019 23:18

Carrycot. And to be honest for long periods of time most likely on you!

stanski · 10/06/2019 23:24

We had a Moses basket and was super convenient for moving DS around the flat without waking him

Pea2019 · 11/06/2019 09:15

Thank you all. I feel much better now. I won’t buy an additional moses basket and will use carrycot on pram, myself or the bouncer chair :-)

Although i didn’t even think about a play gym... i’ll add to list Grin

Mine slept on me. Either in a sling or as I sat on the sofa and binge watched greys anatomy!
