Sleeping through - is it just me??

This is a light hearted moan really but....... Just wondering if many others have the same experiences as me?
Every parent I ask no matter how old their dc's are, they have remarkable sleepers. Sleeping 7-7 or similar. Is it just the company I keep? Do I need new mummy friends or do I need to stop talking about sleep.Hmm
Mummy exercise class - 13 week old and 10 week old sleeping through. The 13 week old has since day 1.
Playgroup - 3 month old and 4month old twins sleeping through.
Health visitor group - 5 babies all around 4months. All sleeping through - except my little cherub!!! Grin
Save my sanity and say its not just me.

It's not just you Wine mine is resisting sleep as I type this. Also feel like everyone else I speak to has sleeping babies. Wondering what I'm doing wrong! Confused

VileyRose · 30/04/2018 21:11

I never ask now as it drives me mad!

userabcname · 30/04/2018 21:12

10.5 month old here. Hasn't slept through 1 night in his life! You are not alone!

123456kent · 30/04/2018 21:16

My 6 month old slept through for the first time last week and hasn’t done since.
People’s definition of ‘sleeping through’ differs too. Waking at 5am to me isn’t sleeping through.... that’s not morning.
I really cannot imagine a day when mine does 7-7!!!!

beckieperk · 30/04/2018 21:16

Thanks for replies. I think I'll stop asking as I either get worried I'm doing something wrong, angry that I'm trying my best/everything and it's still not working or I think they are fibbing (Im sue not all are as they have nothing to lie for!!)

Definitely not alone! 12mo still not slept through here Sad. I think (some) of your mummy friends are telling porkies. It will happen eventually... Please let it be soon!

pastabest · 30/04/2018 21:22

Have you probed what they mean by 'sleeping through'?

Just because some smug twats mums 'don't count' the baby waking up for 'dream feeds'. Others conveniently forget to mention that they consider 'sleeping through' to be from midnight to 5am.

As the mum of a baby who didn't sleep through AT ALL until they were 8 months and then not reliably until they were well over a year I can assure you I merely assumed everyone else wasn't telling the truth. I told anyone who would listen how bad at sleeping DD was and one by one most of them admitted that there was some wobble room in their interpretation of 'sleeping through'

lollypop13 · 30/04/2018 21:26

My DS 18 months old has slept through three nights and that was because he was poorly.

BlueTrousers · 30/04/2018 21:26

If it makes you feel any better my eldest son didn’t sleep through till he was 5, youngest son is 2 and showing no signs of sleeping through yet and is still up anywhere between 6 & 10 tines a night
However both my daughters have always been amazing sleepers and 3 month old DD has been sleeping through (9pm-ish till 7am-ish) since she was 3 weeks old, so now I get to be the smug twat at babygroups but tbh I think I’ve earned it (I just don’t mention the 2 year old Grin)

newcupcake · 30/04/2018 21:26

8 month old DD next week here and never slept through , generally only goes 3-4 hourly overnight in between feeds , dreaming of the days of a sleep through !

SadSongsAndWaltzes · 30/04/2018 21:28

Almost 3 year old here who occasionally sleeps through, but more often doesn't.

SparklySeashell · 30/04/2018 21:28

First rule of parenting, people you meet at playgroups/baby groups etc, they lie! Grin

beckieperk · 30/04/2018 21:30

Not probed too much to be honest. The 13 week old deffo was 7-7. But I did read a thread on here recently which said something like - "my dc sleeps through from 7 till 7 in cot. With one dream feed at midnight and another feed between 2 and 4 am. Occasionally needs dummy replacing yoo." Hmm
That's not sleeping through. That's my life!!!

ellesbellesxxx · 30/04/2018 21:30

My 11 month old twins have both at times slept 7-6... It is not consistent and do they both do it on the same night? Hmm you are not alone!!!

RedLemonade · 30/04/2018 21:32

I have a one and three quarters year old who has yet to sleep the night!

Are we the winners of the thread?! Please God somebody give me a win😱

beckieperk · 30/04/2018 21:32

Pinkball that's savage!! How did you even manage to conceive to have more children? Metaphorical question. No reply required!

pastabest · 30/04/2018 21:33

Yep that's exactly what I'm talking about.

It's not their fault they are deluded... it's probably caused by sleep deprivation Grin

gingerbreadbiscuits · 30/04/2018 21:33

My observation have led me to believe that babies who sleep through tend to be ‘lumps’ in the words of one Mum of said sleep and are not as advanced as non sleepers.

beckieperk · 30/04/2018 21:35

I'll take that gingerbread. Grin

My DD only started sleeping through sometime after turning 2 😩 and still gets bad night terrors every now and then. She went through a spell when she moved into bottles having up to 8 a night as she struggled with bad eczema and it was the only thing to settle her. Got a 3 week old now and just taking it a day at a time...

AssumethePerpendicular · 30/04/2018 21:37

9 month old never slept more than 4 hours over here Grin usually up 3 times after I’ve gone to bed, I’m hoping it will get better at some point!

DrWhy · 30/04/2018 21:38

Mine is 19 months now, has ‘slept through) as in one wake at 11ish before I was asleep and then sleeping to 6ish, a single figure number of times. I am pregnant again now and utterly shattered.
That said he is a bright little button, non-stop when he’s awake, full of babble and chatter and very smiley. I wouldn’t stop him for a ‘lump’ Wink

pastabest · 30/04/2018 21:38

[Eyes DD who crawled at 5 months and walked at 8.5 months]

Yup I would say that observation may hold some merit gingerbread

Grin
MollyCule · 30/04/2018 21:41

DD slept through from about 8 weeks to 17 weeks. So I would have been one of the mums saying I was getting 10 hours a night. After that, she woke up at least every 3 hours for well over a year. 4 months sleep regression was a bitch!

Flutist · 30/04/2018 21:42

I'd count "sleeping through" as at least 8 hours until at least 7-8am. My HV told me it's unhealthy for a small baby to sleep that long as his blood sugar will drop and he won't be receiving night feeds which are an important part of weight gain. When my DS wasn't gaining weight fast enough I was told to wake him up and do more night feeds. She said don't let baby sleep more than 5-6 hours without a feed until he starts eating solids.
