4 Month Sleep Regression

My DD is 4 months old. Up until a couple of weeks ago she would go about 5 hours at night, wake for a feed and resettle for about 3-4 hours. She now goes down, sleeps for about 2.5 hours and then stirs and thrashes about every 1 - 1.5 hours. When I hear her stir I pop her dummy in and sometimes switch on some white noise and she will gradually go back to sleep.
I've read about the 4 month sleep regression. Has anybody got any experience with this? I'm worried about her reliance on her dummy to resettle. She also needs it for naps (although naps well when asleep). Should I be trying to wean her off the dummy? I tried to settle her for a nap yesterday without it, with just calming shhhh's but 20 minutes later she was on the verge of a meltdown and I gave in.
Just looking for advice really.

Argh, the four-month sleep regression! When all our bad sleep practices come home to roost. I was a 'feed to sleep' person before this, and then found DS waking to feed every two hours after previously sleeping through the night. Basically you need to get to a stage where your baby is able to go off to sleep with no input (dummy, rocking, shushing) from you. Easier said than done, but trying to remove the dummy is probably a good place to start.

I'm in the exact same position. 4.5 month old was sleeping 10-7 from 8 weeks old, and more recently 7.30-7. Having same issues with dummy in the night, she never used to wake for it. Has been going on for 2 weeks now. I will give it another 2 weeks and them re-evaluate I think. It also seems that she s teething- I can see 2 little toothmarks and she is biting like crazy.

Sipper has it got any better for you? Still bad here. LO didn't go to sleep until 10.45 and then woke at 1.30, 3.30, 4.30 and 5.30. I was hoping she'd stay asleep for a while this morning but the OH pressed the wrong button on his phone and his stupidly loud alarm went off for a third time and completely woke her up. I can't decide whether I feel like crying or raging I'm that tired.

Nope, just the same!!! She's had the odd night of sleeping through, but most nights is still waking for dummy. I don't have to pick her up or anything, just pop the dummy in and she goes back off. She's in a snuzpod next to my bed, so I just lean over, but am not used to such broken nights! To top it off, she's now got a cold as well!

Is baby next to your bed?

RaeCJ82 · 06/10/2017 11:52

Oh no, a cold as well! 😕
Yep, she's next to me in a co-sleeping crib and I'm such a light sleeper now that any movement wakes me up. 😴

Hiya

I just wanted to say that it is a SIDS risk to remove a dumny or not use it consistantly at this age. Dummies reduce SIDS risk when used with consistancy at every sleep time.

As well as SIDS factors, I absolutely would not remove the dummy. Dummies are ace!
