I'd love to have a good night rhyme with my son that I can say to him when I put him in bed. He's 18 months old. Any suggestions?

"Nan night, sweet dreams, sleep tight, see you in the morning when you wake up. I love you this much" .

Child replies "I love you this much"

Kiss, walk to door. At doorway:

"Love you more than.... [insert random thing that change every night. E.g. fudge]"

Reply from child: "Love you more than.... [insert random thing that change every night. E.g. football]"

"Nan night"

Close door.

Exactly the same with all four children. Some added extras in with older children, DS7 has a best of three game of rock paper scissors (random, I know!) After "love you this much". DS11 has a secret hand shake/ fist pump thing.

But this has essentially been the same through 12 years of parenting and four children.

I just say good night little man, I love you

packofshunts · 14/04/2017 20:43

Night night
Sweet dreams
Love you
Love you more
Love you most

2gorgeousboys · 14/04/2017 20:50

Even though my boys are too big for it now really, we still have the same routine (although Ds1 17 doesn't quite play along but a hug and a good night I love you from him is good enough Smile)
"Good night, sleep tight, I love you"
"Good night Mummy, I love you too"
"I love you more"
"No, I love you more"
"No, it's a proven fact that Mummies love their boys more than their boys love them"
"No I love you mostest Mummy"

Dd2's is 'night night, sleep tight, don't let the bunk beds bite'. She's 8 and misheard when she was tiny.
We also have 'I love you to the moon and back' but as she has got older it gets more competitive so she now says 'I love you to the moon and back INFINITY times and you can't have more than that, so there' and I say 'well I'm your mother and I love you the most.HA!' and run away giggling.

Ecureuil · 14/04/2017 20:54

Go to sleep and I don't want to hear from you until the morning!

Jokes.

CycleHire · 14/04/2017 20:57

Yes we do the 'I love you more' 'I love you most' thing too. And I thought we were unique 😅

With our 19 month old it's pretty simple though - a kiss and 'good night, sleep tight, love you, see you in the morning'

topcat2014 · 14/04/2017 20:58

ding dong dorling see you in the morning - no idea where it started, and dd is 10!

DramaAlpaca · 14/04/2017 20:59

I've always said 'night night, sleep tight, see you in the morning.'

I still do, and my youngest is 19 Smile

ILoveAGoodBrusselSprout · 14/04/2017 21:00

We picked some of these and now settled on ByeBye Butterfly for DD and Take Care Polar Bear for DS (twins, sharing a room), just after we say Night night, sleep tight, wake up bright in the morning light

What's your 'good night phrase' ?

hippoherostandinghere · 14/04/2017 21:50

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 14/04/2017 21:53

Sweet dreams custard creams

SheilaHammond · 14/04/2017 21:55

Night night, have a good sleep, love you hunny bunny.

(Night night, love you mum)

We say the Lord's Prayer together too....and we're not even religious! It's just a routine we got into.

Then, Night night, God bless

blue2014 · 14/04/2017 22:01

LOVE 'sweet dreams custard creams" Smile

muminthecity · 14/04/2017 22:06

We say night night, god bless, love you. We're atheists, but it was what my mum always said and my nana so it's just stuck and I say it automatically now.

Screwtheroses · 14/04/2017 22:09

'Love you lots like jelly tots' or 'love you loads like busy roads' which just came out once when trying to think of something that rhymed with 'loads' and kind of stuck also sometimes 'love ya loads you stinky toad' when being silly

Natsku · 14/04/2017 22:09

"Good night, I love you, sweet dreams"

DD replies "Good night, I love you, sweet dreams"

Occasionally we mix up the order because we like to live life on the edge,

babyinarms · 14/04/2017 22:12

1.Love you lots like jelly tots !
2.Love you to the moon and back.
3.love you more than.....can be a different thing every night....like.... chocolate/ sunny days/jelly tots etc

LottieDoubtie · 14/04/2017 22:13

''Night Night, see you in the morning (when the sun comes up), love you!''

''When the sun comes up! Night night Mummy''

Is the current routine. Let's just say that gro clock is saving my sanity Grin

timeisnotaline · 14/04/2017 22:16

First god bless grandma and pa, grandma and grandpa, mummy and daddy etc etc, then Night night Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite

shatteredstudentmum · 14/04/2017 22:18

Night night, sweet dreams, see you in the morning, see you at breakfast time.

Ds11 is very dependant on this. If you says it wrong / miss bits out he really doesn't like it.

Ds7 doesn't care and is usually still talking as I leave the room so more like, night night, night night, go to sleep. Stop talking and go to sleep! Often through the closed door Hmm

Gooseygoosey12345 · 14/04/2017 22:18

N'night, love you, see you in the morning. No idea where it came from or when it started but that's what dd and I say to each other

Misty9 · 14/04/2017 22:20

Tuck you in nice and tight, snuggle up and say (then child says) goodnight :)
