How are you all dressing your toddlers for sleep now it's turned chilly?

My son is nearly 2 and throws all blankets out of his cot most nights, so I'm reliant on clothes only to keep him warm. I did try his growbag on him last night and he immediately climbed out his cot with it on, the poppers on the shoulders came unpopped and he stepped out of it Hmm

Tonight his room is 22 degrees. I've put him in a short sleeved vest, a sleep suit with a footless sleep suit over the top and a thin jumper. So lots of layers basically but I have no idea if he is snuggy.

If you have a toddler that won't sleep under a blanket or duvet, what are they wearing?

Thanks xx

Mine is sporting a nappy and a pair of shorts! His room is about 18 degrees. I've just laid a blanket over him but he'll kick it off soon.

Yours seems...quite well dressed!

Asleeponasunbeam · 06/10/2014 22:21

DS is 2.3 by the way and very opinionated about what he wears!

BonaDea · 06/10/2014 22:21

My ds is 18 months. He just wears pjs and a 2.5 tog gro bag.

How on earth can climb out of his cot?! I thought my rascal was a good climber but no way could he get out of there? Maybe his is very deep!!

TwelveLeggedWalk · 06/10/2014 22:22

My two are in beds and DD has started kicking off her covers and then wakingn cold. I have some duvet clips that we tried using in her cot with bog all success so I might optimistically try those again.

Failing that, I might get old skool with a heavy blanket to tuck everything in. That's how I sleep best so it might work for her.

DearGirl · 06/10/2014 22:25

short sleeved vest, babygrow with feet and a sleeping bag - maybe a blanket on top as it gets colder.

ChazzerChaser · 06/10/2014 22:27

That sounds like a lot to me. Our room is 15 and he's just in pyjamas. He seems to not like to be hot at all.

JuniperTisane · 06/10/2014 22:27

My 21mo is in shortie pyjamas and 2.5tog bag. His room is about 18 degrees and he feels quite warm. I still go by sticking a hand down his back or tummy to gauge how hot he is. If he usnt sweating I assume hes fine.

fishfingerSarnies · 06/10/2014 22:28

Spend some time playing "going to bed" getting him to pull a blanket over himself etc so if he wakes up cold he can pull his blanket up.
That seems like a lot of clothes for a 22 degree room.

My dd room is about 18/19 and she in footless pj's.
If he's not been waking up cold I'd assume he's fine.

Clairej81 · 06/10/2014 22:30

DS is 2.5 and he wears a short sleeve vest under his pjs. No doubt he will end up sleeping onto of his duvet as he does most nights.

cleoteacher · 06/10/2014 22:31

Short sleeved vest, long sleeved pjs and a 2.5 tog sleep sack. Not sure temp of room as thermometer not working. Woke several times last night and wondering if it was coldness as no vest. Thinking of getting radiator out of cupboard soon.

freelancegirl · 06/10/2014 22:31

Another one here too with a DS with less clothing. At 2.3 he's in a bed with a 4 tog duvet but usually kicks this off deliberately. For the last few nights we have gone from short sleeved PJ top and nappy to long sleeve PJ top and added bottoms. He is opinionated too and always says he is not cold. It's not sooo cold here yet in London though, maybe you are in a colder part of the country.

Andcake · 06/10/2014 22:32

Long sleeve shirt and 2.5 Gorbachev for 2 year old. I tried to warm his pjs up on radiator before bed but he complained hence why he is in a tHmmshirt

cleoteacher · 06/10/2014 22:32

Oh and socks.

Asleeponasunbeam · 06/10/2014 22:33

I love autocorrect to Gorbachev!!

TeWiSavesTheDay · 06/10/2014 22:36

Mine and both wearing long sleeve pjs and that's it.

Maybe he wants to move to a bed? Not really safe to have him climbing out... (unless you mean it's the convertible type?)

TeWiSavesTheDay · 06/10/2014 22:37

2.5 Gorbachev sounds pretty militant for toddler bedtime Wink

NewEraNewMindset · 06/10/2014 22:40

Tsk I just wrote a long post and it's disappeared I think! We modified the cot directly he climbed out so it's now like a day bed, no climbing, hence why he can step out and pop his growbag straight off.

I was about to ask what a Gorbachev was lol. It sounded just what I was after Grin

DD 22 months in a bed. Vest and two piece footless pjs. Sometimes kicks covers off. Never wakes up cold. Rooms are about 16 degrees at the moment. My 6 month old wears vest, sleep suit and 2.5 tog bag. Have been throwing a blanket over on these colder nights, but normally take it off again after a while as he feels too warm.

NewEraNewMindset · 06/10/2014 22:42

Just to add I am so so cold and I'm under a duvet and blanket with socks and long sleeved top. It's fecking freezing tonight!!

OP posts:
NewEraNewMindset · 06/10/2014 22:43

I also thought 22 was pretty cold for a room temp, shows I am being ridiculous.

Maybe you've got a virus or something if you're feeling that cold.22 degrees is really warm!

HRMumness · 06/10/2014 22:51

DD wears long sleeved pyjamas with a 2.5 tog sleeping bag and a comfort blanket which is always thrown off. Her room us about 19c and she is very warm blooded like my DH.

Tapdancingelephant · 06/10/2014 22:57

I think it is probably around 19 or 20 degrees in ds' room.

He refuses point blank to wear a Grobag anymore (he used to, before summer, but then we took him out whe it was really hot, and now he won't go back!) and is hysterical if we try to put a blanket over him.

He wears a pair of pyjamas, and a pair of socks. And that's it, because it is all I can do. He is generally warm enough - his hands/feet are occasionally a bit cool to touch, but his core is warm.

It sounds as though your ds is wearing loads to me, OP, and the room is really warm too - your hearing bills must be sky high!

NewEraNewMindset · 06/10/2014 23:02

Wow I must just be horribly cold blooded!! The heating hasn't been on. The top of the house heats up really well in the day if the son is out as we have huge windows, the bottom of the house is really cold though. I have an electric blanket in the Winter as otherwise I can't get to sleep. Then I wake up boiling hot so I must set the thing on a timer when I put it on again and save boiling my blood!!

I've found something online that I think could work. It's by DreamGenii and is called a Twinkle Tog.
