How are you all dressing your toddlers for sleep now it's turned chilly?

My son is nearly 2 and throws all blankets out of his cot most nights, so I'm reliant on clothes only to keep him warm. I did try his growbag on him last night and he immediately climbed out his cot with it on, the poppers on the shoulders came unpopped and he stepped out of it Hmm

Tonight his room is 22 degrees. I've put him in a short sleeved vest, a sleep suit with a footless sleep suit over the top and a thin jumper. So lots of layers basically but I have no idea if he is snuggy.

If you have a toddler that won't sleep under a blanket or duvet, what are they wearing?

Thanks xx

I had some pj's for dd last winter that were like a grow bag with legs and arms. It was from mammals and pampas.

Urrrm Mama's and papa's!!! Dd loved it. She couldn't get out of it like she could a grow bag.

Mammals and pampas is the best autocorrect ever. Perhaps the name of a swingers club?

22 degrees is hot hot hot. I seem to remember the SIDS guidelines are between 18 and 21 degrees for babies. That is a lot of clothes. I assume it doesn't stay at 22 degrees all night though?

My DS is 24 months and wears a long sleeve vest and pyjamas. His room is 16 at the moment. He does have a doubled over cellular blanket and two massive muslins layered over him though. Although, like yours, they are rarely there in the morning.

Thanks guys. He woke up this morning with cold hands but seemed happy. His room felt SO cold though Sad. I remembered whilst drifting off to sleep last night that the monitor always recorded his room temp at two degrees hotter than his Groegg (still packed away) so his room must have been 20 degrees last night and 19 degrees this morning.

Ah it's so cute when they are that age, I kept my baby in a little grow with a few layers of blankets. He took them off too but would soon snuggle back up once the cold hit him!!!

Our 18 month old wears a long-sleeved sleep suit with feet and a 2.5 tog sleep snuggler (the mamas and papas duvet suit). Room is about 20-22 degrees. She's a bit warm at the beginning, but needs it during the night. She kicks off covers.

Long sleeved sleepsuit and a growbag Smile

minipie · 07/10/2014 21:12

Long sleeved but footless sleepsuit, long sleeved vest, merino gro bag (not sure what tog, the normal one not the winter one). Room is about 20 and will drop to 17-18 overnight. She also has a thin blanket on top. Yes it's a lot of layers but any less and she wakes up at 5am cold... she gets cold easily just like me. when it gets really cold we will move up to thicker gro bag and if necessary use a heater.

minipie · 07/10/2014 21:15

If you have a gro bag escapee then google walk in sleeper - lots of places do them - basically they are fleecy or padded jumpsuits.

magicalmrmistofelees · 07/10/2014 21:19

19 degrees in DD's room according to the Gro egg. She's in long sleeved pyjamas and a 2.5 tog gro bag. What your DS is wearing sounds an awful lot to me!

Misty9 · 07/10/2014 22:12

Ds, three years, is in long pjs and a duvet. He's a hot bod, like his dad. His room is the coldest in the house so I'll add a vest to that when it gets properly cold. My second must also be a hot bod as she's in a short sleeved vest and 2.5 tog padded sleepsuit. Babygro and sleeping bag is too hot for her yet but 1 tog bag too cool in the night. It's a guessing game :)
