A campaign for later bed times has been started here, not sure I agree but I have said I will ask on MN what time others go to bed.

So, what age are your children and what time do they go to bed?

Both DS's aged 4 and 8 go up at about 7.30 and faff about until they go to sleep at around 9pm. Sometimes later sometimes earlier and if they like they play Terraria or Minecraft together for a bit provided they don't argue. I like them to be upstairs and in bed faffing about rather than downstairs though

MoominMammasHandbag · 30/03/2014 22:08

DS is 7. Normally in bed by 8.30, later on weekends. Always straight to sleep though. He wakes up about 7 but he only needs to be up at 8 really.

BornToFolk · 30/03/2014 22:08

6 (well, 6.5 really, I spose!) - between 7 and 7.30, depending on how much sleep he's had recently. He wakes up at 7am, whether he goes to bed at 7 or 9 so I like to keep 7 as the standard so he can deal with the occasional later night.

DS (10) 8.45pm
DD (7) 7.30pm

DD needs a lot more sleep than DS. She's usually asleep by 8, DS by 9.30. DD is dreadful at getting up in the morning, goodness only knows what she'll be like as a teenager.

SoftSheen · 30/03/2014 22:10

DD (3 yo) 8/8.30 pm and usually asleep by 9 pm. Then starts the day bright and breezy around 6 am. Hmm

SpeckleDust · 30/03/2014 22:14

DD1 (8) lights off at 9pm
DD2 (6) lights off at 8pm

Both up at 7.20 - 7.30 am but sometimes a struggle.

dobedobedo · 30/03/2014 22:17

Ds is 9 and he goes to bed at 9. Any later and he's too tired, any earlier and he's not tired enough and stays awake for hours. He'll sometimes get into bed an hour or half an hour earlier so he has time to read before going to sleep.

Cockadoodledooo · 30/03/2014 22:18

Ds2 (4) goes around 7. Ds1 (10) to bed about 8 then reads for an hour. Though it was 10.30 last night because he 'forgot' to turn off his Kobo Hmm

Ds1 will sleep in forever in the mornings if you let him and is as much of a morning person as I am (i.e. not at all!). Ds2 is up at 6 regardless of when he goes to bed, which is a colossal pain in the arse.

3 year old, between 6-30 and 7pm.

Georgina1975 · 30/03/2014 22:25

4yo - in bed by 7.30pm and asleep by 8.15pm at latest. Awake between 6.30am-7am.

CheesyBadger · 30/03/2014 22:27

3 yr old - 7-8, occasional 6:30

Clutterbugsmum · 30/03/2014 22:28

5yr - We trying 7pm in the hope it stops him waking up at 5am.
6yr - 7.30pm but she normally falls asleep around 8pm - and again she wakes up about 5am.
10y - goes up at 7.30pm and lights out 8/8.30pm - she makes up for the other two and wakes about 7am.

PisforPeter · 30/03/2014 22:31

22 mo - 8

ShoeWhore · 30/03/2014 22:31

6&7yr old - 7.30
9yr old - 8

We tried a week of slightly later nights recently and everyone was very grumpy by the end of the week (inc me!) so I concluded that their current bedtimes are OK for now.

Octopusinabunchofdaffodils · 31/03/2014 19:46

Thanks everybody. At the moment he has got no chance of a change, he went at half 8 last night but then woke up at 5am for some reason, fell asleep until 7am and then took himself off to bed at 6.30pm because he was tired! Still fast asleep now.
