A campaign for later bed times has been started here, not sure I agree but I have said I will ask on MN what time others go to bed.

So, what age are your children and what time do they go to bed?

Yika · 30/03/2014 21:22

Age 3.5, around 8:30 pm on average - but still has a nap in preschool.

CalamitouslyWrong · 30/03/2014 21:23

Ah, the usual nonsense then. :).

DS1 went to bed at 7.30 at 9 and he didn't complain about it. See how much your 9 year old likes that suggestion. Grin. DS1 is in Y9 now and really doesn't complain about the bedtime thing. I'm wondering how long this will last.

cottonwoolmum · 30/03/2014 21:25

11 and 12.

9pm on school nights with lights out at 9.30. 10pm on weekends and holidays.

LittleBearPad · 30/03/2014 21:25

22 months - about 8.30. Still has a daytime nap.

neversleepagain · 30/03/2014 21:27

18 months - 6:30pm.

herladyship · 30/03/2014 21:31

13 yr old dd goes to bed when we do around 10/10.30 but often reads later (she's a night owl)

19 yr old ds is often asleep before 9.30.. He plays a lot of sport & works shifts!

NoUseForAName · 30/03/2014 21:34

5 and 6 year old 6.30 asleep by 7 on a week night, 7.30 on a weekend unless we are out and about

MrsC1966 · 30/03/2014 21:37

11yr old - 8 - 8.30pm on a school day, 8.30-9pm otherwise.

BlingBubbles · 30/03/2014 21:40

DD 2.9months bed at 7/30.

Niklepic · 30/03/2014 21:45

DD (1) - between 6 and 7pm
DS (8) between 8-9pm.
DD (16) no idea - whenever she likes as long as she doesn't keep me awake.

Weegiemum · 30/03/2014 21:50

Dd1 is 14, bed at 9.30, lights out 10

Ds is 12, bed at 9, lights out 9.30

Dd2 is 10, bed at 8.30, lights out 9 though she often chooses to go earlier.

These are school night times. It's a bit later Fri/Sat nights.

And strictly NO PHONES IN ROOMS!!

fanoftheinvisibleman · 30/03/2014 21:53

DS is 8 and goes about 8.45.

MissYamabuki · 30/03/2014 21:53

DD, 3.4, 9:30, usually asleep by 10. Needs less sleep than a normal human :( am hoping school will change this.

Jinsei · 30/03/2014 21:53

DD is 8, nearly 9. On a weeknight, she's usually in bed by 8.30ish, lights off by 9. No fixed time at weekends and in the holidays.

mymatemax · 30/03/2014 21:54

14 & 12 yr old 10pm for both
Honestly its a bit too late for the 12 yr old but if we send him up earlier he doesn't settle anyway.

ViviDeBeauvoir · 30/03/2014 21:57

14 months, 3 and 5 all go to bed between 6.30 and 7 at the same time as me

Floralnomad · 30/03/2014 21:57

We have never had bedtimes (21 &14) ,its never been a problem for us .

exexpat · 30/03/2014 21:59

We are all night owls, but live close to school and could get up at 8am and still get to school on time (just). So 15yo DS goes to bed when he feels like it, which is often around midnight, sometimes later (particularly at weekends), sometimes much earlier when he is tired. He sleeps in at weekends. DD is 11 and is rarely in bed before 10pm. I know lots of DD's class (she's in year 6) still go to bed before 9pm, but they mostly have to be up much earlier for a longer commute to school.

Late nights work for us - I am absolutely not a morning person, so even when they were little they went to bed late by British standards (8-9pm), because it was normal where we were living (not UK), and I could not stand the thought of being woken at 6am every day.

Really, I don't think what anyone else (in their class or on MN) does is relevant - it depends on how much sleep they need and what time they need to be up in the morning.

TurnOffTheTv · 30/03/2014 22:01

2yo 8pm
9yo 10pm
13yo 10.30/11pm
Everybody up at 8am on a school morning.
We are a family of night owls. I always vowed to let my children go to sleep when the want (within reason) as my parents put me to bed when I wasn't even tired and I used to toss and turn for hours. They all still get enough sleep.

nocheeseplease · 30/03/2014 22:01

Ds is 12 and goes between 9.15pm and 9.30pm.

Dd's are 9 and 6 and go any time between 7pm and 8pm, it depends on how tired they are and how early they have to get up the next morning.

TurnOffTheTv · 30/03/2014 22:02

That is when they fall asleep naturally by the way. Weekends are a free for all'

guineapig2014 · 30/03/2014 22:03

Dd (12). In to bed 8.30 dont really know when lights are out. Depends on the night. Prob around half 9. Half 10 Shock on guides night. Dts (7) around 8pm. I usually try earlier though because they have to get up at 6am!
