BTW, Aloha you recommended In the Night Kitchen, by Sendak? Last night I had to read this 3x, DH read it 2x, before bed. 1st night we read it, I had to read it about 6x. Not sure if I should thank you or not.....!!

aloha · 10/12/2003 09:43

Good, isn't it
(sorry!)

5.15pm - Get home from work, dp (SAHD) has cooked dinner (awww bless)
5.30pm - Dinner for me, dp, ds (4.11), dd (14m)
6pm - Bath time for dd or if it's Weds/Sun for both ds and dd. If ds isn't having a bath he will sometimes watch tv or play on computer. Either me or dp will load the dishwasher depending on who is doing bathtime.
6.15pm - dd out of bath and rolling around on our bed
6.30pm - TV/computer off. Get dd into her nappy and sleepsuit. Ds gets himself undressed and into his pyjamas
6.45pm - either me or dp give dd her bottle in her room and put her to bed. The other reads a story or two to ds.
7pm - dd usually asleep. Ds is allowed to stay up for 15mins looking at his books then he puts his own light out. (Actually works quite well)
7.01pm - collapse with exhaustion on sofa.
7.02pm - break out the chocolate.

codswallop · 10/12/2003 13:18

codswallop · 10/12/2003 13:19

Ps do you all drink every night?

BLimey

ThomCat · 10/12/2003 13:28

Yep - every night. I may miss out on the odd Monday if I've had a heavy weekend.

oliveoil · 10/12/2003 13:36

I used to drink everynight but am now pg so have to be rationed.

Have warned dh to ration his intake too, nothing worse then someone smelly of booze when you have had apple juice or whatever.

M2T · 10/12/2003 13:39

DH and I used to drink every other night... but not now!! I can't wait to get the 1st trimester out of the way so I can have a nice glass of dry white.

DH is banned from drinking in the house whilst I'm pregnant.

aloha · 10/12/2003 13:55

I'm with Thomcat. Forgot to say Ds has milk every night. He says cheers and bashes his plastic beaker into my wineglass. Bless. I was pretty damn abstemious when pg though so can do it if I have to.

madgirl · 10/12/2003 13:55

M2T me too me too me too! DH allowed nip of whiskey in the house, as I cannot stand it and do not get jealous. you are all very good at getting your kids to bed early.
5:45 get ds home from nursery and me from work
6:00 give ds snack and drink and put shrek or mary poppins on for him to unwind too (look - toddlers have to unwind too you know )
6:30 start making noises about a bath midst protests and demands for mummy to come and sit on the sofa. meanwhile, try and load washing machine and change into jeans and open post at same time.
6:45 sit on sofa with ds watching mary poppins or shrek
7:00 greet dh who comes home and starts preparing supper (he does food, i do washing. go upstairs to start bath. log onto mumsnet secretly as dh thinks i'm mad and obsessed by internet and mumsnet. he is right.
7:15 turn tv on and deal with tantrum. bribe ds into bath with bubbles
7:30 downstairs for 3, just 3 books.
7:50 bed-time.
7:50-8:20 "i don't want to go to sleep/one more cuddle mummy" battles.
8:30 dinner
8:45 bath for me
9:00 bed/tv. chocolate if available.

Bozza · 10/12/2003 13:55

Nursery day routine.
6pm Arrive home with DS.
6-6.30 pm Get changed, make dinner (ie warm it up), play with DS, talk to DS/DH.
6.30 pm Eat, all of us.
6.45 pm DH clears kitchen, I play with DS, Dh joins us.
7.15 pm Bathtime DH tidies toys away
7.30 pm Teeth, 3 stories, shout Daddy, turn out light (DS insists on doing it himself),cuddle DS in bed for:
7.45 pm Relax, or iron, write Christmas cards, clean etc.

Similar routine on non-nursery days except that I will have actually cooked.

Get home from nursery between 5.40 and 6. Turn on cbeebies. Feed dog, make cup of tea for me and milk plus pasta/beans/fruit/sandwiches for ds. Watch end of Tweenies, Fimbles, 64 zoo lane, wildlife, storymakers. Ends at 7. Either read stories, or have bath or (probably..) go onto the cbeebies website. Bed at 7.30.
Then eat my second tea with dh c.8.30 (obviously I had to help with the earlier one for ds...)

tinyfeet · 10/12/2003 15:02

5pm home from work
6pm tea, sometimes eats well, sometimes not
6.30 DD (20 months) running around the house, some tv
7ish DH home, plays with DD, sometimes dinner with DD
7.30 milk
8.15ish bath/books,books,books, DD asleep in cot
9pm mumsnet!

We are hoping this ritual for DD will stay the same after new arrival of baby in a few weeks . . .

dot1 · 11/12/2003 09:32

5pm I get home from work
5pm - 5.10pm ds throws a wobbly because I'm home and interrupting his lovely play time with favourite Mummy...
5.10pm - 6pm ds realises 2 Mummies to play with is actually quite good, and I tend to do lots of 'active' tickling-type play while dp prepares his tea.
6pm - 6.45pm I feed ds (quite a feat at the moment), usually now in front of the telly - shame on us but he's not eating well at the moment and we've found this tends to work better than screaming fits sat at the table! We either watch 64 Zoo Lane - the theme tune then stays with me all flipping night - or his favourite Thomas the Tank Engine video...
6.45pm Bathtime - and not a minute later!
7pm BEDTIME!!!!!!

Then it's time for us to have our tea and get on that settee by 7.30pm!
9.30pm Bedtime for Mummies - or 10pm if we're feeling daring...!
