6pm - Daddy gets home and we all have dinner together.
6.30pm - TV (Little Bear on Nick Jr) or bath (only twice/three times a week because we're usually knackered by then!)
7.00pm - TV (Maggie & Ferocious Beast on Nick Jr) and drink of milk.
7.30pm - ds' bed time (upstairs, Daddy helps him get ready for bed, reads him a story, sings a song, lights out).
8pm - Parents collapse and then suddenly remember the pile of christmas cards STILL not written ... sigh

Enid · 09/12/2003 11:36

You are all very good getting your little ones into bed by 7/7:30! Here is a snap shot of our routine.

6:00 Pick dh up from work
6:30 Realise there's no food in the house for our tea, let alone ds' tea
6:31 Go to Tesco to buy some bread that isn't mouldy.
6:45 Ds (2 and a half) has tea
7:00 B/feed dd
7:30 Ds goes to play room for a bit
8:00 Bath for ds
8:30 Stories and milk begin
9:00 Put ds to bed.
9:01 Feed dd
9:20 Dd in cot
9:30 Start making our tea

This is on a good day! Some days ds doesn't get to bed till 10:30/11:00. There just aren't enough hours in the day I don't think!

codswallop · 09/12/2003 12:12

MIne all have baths at 5 30 in the winter then big guys watch tv

baby in bed at 6,
ds2 (3) at 630
and ds1 at 7pm

M2T · 09/12/2003 12:15

6.15pm - Home, quick chat with DH and DS.
6.30pm - Start dinner
6.45pm - Sit down with ds and watch cbeebies bedtime hour whilst he has dinner.
7.15pm - We sit down for dinner while ds watches the Simpsons.
7.30pm - Give sleepy ds cuddles on the sofa.
8pm - DS up to bed with DH.
8.30pm - DH back downstairs..... we both SSSSLEEEEP!

So sad...

motherinferior · 09/12/2003 12:17

5.15-5.30 get in through door. Collapse in front of CBeebies while breastfeeding dd2.

6 - 6.15 take dd2 upstairs and bath her (or sometimes dp does this). Feed her again. Get her in bed for 6.45ish.

7pm bath dd1 - briefly if I'm doing it, longer nice splashy bath if dp is doing it. I read her story. Daddydaddydaddy puts her to bed.

Should all be over by 7.45 but dd1 has discovered Playing With Baby is Fun, so there are frequent noises from above...

(and don't remind me of Christmas cards!)

emmatmg · 09/12/2003 12:49

At the moment I'm willing that hour the hurry up and pass so that they are in bed!

mears · 09/12/2003 12:53

Enjoy your littlies getting to bed before you ladies. My DS's aged 16, 14 & 13 are still awake when we are going to bed. Argghh. DS age 8 goes to bed about about 9pm. We are never on our own now

Pancake · 09/12/2003 12:57

6pm Get home from work
6.01pm Start playing with ds1 (usually playing with his garage, reading books or drawing) and ds2 (playing with stacking cups or reading books).
6.30pm Go upstairs and play again for about 10 minutes whilst dh gets bath ready.
6.40pm DS2 has his bath the either myself of dh feed him downstairs
6.50pm DS1 has his bath (he prefers it hotter and deeper)
7.00pm whoever isn't feeding the baby reads books to DS1 or play a word game
7.30pm Both boys in bed and fast asleep

7.31pm Relax !!!!

princesspeahead · 09/12/2003 13:17

I'm with coddy. Supper at 5.00, bath at 5.30, baby in bed at 6, ds1 and dd in bed by 6.30/6.40 after stories and songs. They don't really watch tv at all during the week, do sometimes on the weekends.

pupuce · 09/12/2003 13:23

Mears - than make your bedroom a haven
You know like in these DYI shows....
I have started to make my bedroom KIDS-FREE zone (except 1st thing in the morning for a cuddle).

Forestfly · 09/12/2003 13:23

Wash, change and slipper them, draw the curtains, light candles, put some soft music on, read a story, toast and hot milk, bed

Azure · 09/12/2003 13:33

I'm very impressed with so many children being in bed by 7pm. I can't imagine. I pick up DS (2 yrs 3 mths)from nursery and we get home soon after 6pm. Play, snack and occasionally a video / DVD, and I aim to start running the bath at 7pm. DS only gets in the bath half the time, and rarely sits down, so bathtime can be very quick. Then milk while I'm changing him into his PJs & reading a book, brush teeth, and another few books before lights out. By this time it is normally after 8pm - on a slow night 8.30pm. DH gets home from work, we have something to eat, and it's just about time for bed.

ThomCat · 09/12/2003 14:11

I don't get in till 7 and DP until 7.45. If Lottie went earlier than 8 we wouldn't get to see her And if DP and I didn't stay up until 12ish every night we'd never have time alone and time to do stuff. More hours in the day please someone, oh and more energy to cope with more hours as well please.

mears · 09/12/2003 14:20

LOL Forestfly. 'slipper them' reminded me of my childhood being smacked by a slipper for missbehaving.

florenceuk · 09/12/2003 14:23

Used to be 7pm, now more like 8.30! I get in door at 6.30pm, DS joins with snack/drink. We read books/watch TV/generally muck around. Go up for teeth/bath at 7pm on a good night, later depending on when DH gets home - DS likes him to have a bath. Then we read LOTS of books - far too many. Bedtime varies for 8pm to 8.30pm...

WSM · 09/12/2003 14:47

5.45pm *DH gets home for cuddles
6.15pm *Bath Time for DD

Evita · 09/12/2003 16:36

6.00pm - tea (mostly rejected) and video
6.30pm - manic running round in circles (her not me)
7.15pm - bath
7.30pm - breast feed
7.45pm - cuddles and pokes in the eye (for me. she's discovered my orifices. well, some of them)
8.00pm - fast asleep in cot
8.02pm - break open the red wine

Hulababy · 09/12/2003 21:18

DD is 20 months old and has a very "flexible routine", which changes entirely at weekends anyway. So far the weekdays it is normally something like this:

Around 6:20pm - DH gets in from work
Around 6:30pm - tea at table; DD normally has something with us although she has eaten at nursery earlier
After that - play time with me and/or DH; normally very noisy and boistourous using up lot of energy!
Around 7:00 - 7:30pm - DH gives DD a bath
7:30pm - into bed, 2 small stories; light off and lullaby CD on; left to go to sleep on own (normally takes about 5 mins)

However tonight I heard DD talking at 8:30pm and she was sat up chatting to her 'baby'; she finally fell asleep at 8:45pm

Coddy and PPH, what time do your children wake up? Ds has never slept longer than 11hours...5am every day....eeek!

Routine 1
5 -5.30ish tea. Sometimes abandoned due to lack of appetite and resumed later
6pm - 6.45 pm bath with dh (literally). Lots of playing. Pyjamas, rolling on rug etc
6.45 milk and stories and stories and stories. Some playing.
7.20 upstairs again for last story, ds turns off all the lights and bed by 7.30

OR
5.30ish tea (see above)
6pm Cbeebies bedtime hour ("It is Storymakers! It IS! Don't like spoon story. Like Blue Cow)
6.30 mummy and daddy may crack open wine. Mummy and daddy discuss supper and maybe start cooking. Daddy runs bath and gets in it and listens to comedy prog on R4.
7pm end of bedtime hour - BATHTIME! In with daddy
7.30pm downstairs. Book with mummy (who has glass in hand)
Another book
Another book
Game
Another book
8pm bedtime.
