Anyone off to Italy this year?
Saw some great deals but wondering if I'd spend the whole week stressing about catching covid and getting stuck there...

My ski company told me that you can't get the super green pass via the app for under 16 year olds, you need to get a print out of their vaccination status to take with you

Wistful977 · 07/01/2022 10:26

Thank you lamblossom, that's really helpful

AdriannaP · 07/01/2022 17:17

@ReviewingTheSituation

You don’t need a PCR to enter Italy. A lft is enough (no older than 24h before you enter)

undergo a molecular swab carried out within 72 hours prior to entry into Italy and the result of which is negative, or an antigenic test carried out within 24 hours prior to entry into Italy, the result of which is negative. In the case of arrivals from the UK and Northern Ireland and British Isles, the molecular swab must be taken in the 48 hours prior to entering Italy

@Wistful977

I wonder if anyone can help re nhs Covid pass for 13-15 year olds? I have downloaded the app on my DS's phone and spoken to the Gp who say that as I have proxy access that I should be able to see his vaccination info on the app but it isn't there? I'm hoping to book Italy for skiing feb half term but my DS will need his own QR code for the lifts etc in ski school and I don't feel confident booking until I know we can get this.
I went round this with my GP. I have proxy access for my 15 year old and it shows his vaccination status but not the covid pass bit. I read an article saying that the government has said they'll roll out a digital option for 12-15 year olds in the next couple of months but to apply for the Covid pass letter in the meantime. If that's helpful.
jb23newmum · 07/01/2022 20:04

We ordered a paper version of the covid pass for our 12 year old - rang 119 and came within about 5 days - they have an expiry date of 30 days incase you make the same mistake as me and ask for one too early !

jb23newmum · 07/01/2022 20:05

Has anyone been to Passo Tonale at all ? Fingers crossed we hope to be going in 2 weeks !!!

NotDonna · 07/01/2022 20:22

@jb23newmum I would have had no idea that they expire after a month either. Thanks for the heads up as I too would have applied early. I don’t understand the rationale for that. Could be a nightmare in summer.

NotDonna · 07/01/2022 20:26

@newyear1 the first time the tech person at the GP surgery set me up as a proxy I couldn’t see vaccine status either. I just let them know and they made some tweaks. Apparently they can’t see from their side how the user will see. So definitely let them know as they won’t have a clue that you can’t see it.

I noticed it on the printable versions of the adult ones and then my daughters arrived yesterday and expires the day we are due to come back . I didn’t want to take any chances so I have applied for another one . But agree if everyone is applying in summer - the window isn’t very big to obtain one

Wistful977 · 07/01/2022 20:48

Thank you that's really helpful - especially about the letter expiring after 30 days! Does anyone know if the paper copy will be sufficient for ski lifts? Will he have to show it at each lift? I can imagine him losing it on day one! I wonder if he can take a photo of it and show that?

Is the process of doing an LFT the same as a PCR though? What are the differences in how you go about doing either? And is there a cost difference?

NotDonna · 08/01/2022 07:46

@Iamblossom the ‘process’ of doing an LFT and PCR are the same in that it’s a nose/throat swab. The differences are duration of resukts and cost. The PCR is double the cost of LFTs and they take MUCH longer to confirm the result - up to 48hrs. Whereas LFT is a few hours. We all had 24hr LFTs for Italy at Xmas from expresstest that took around 3 hours for results to come through.

Iamblossom · 08/01/2022 07:52

OK perfect thankyou. I just found this website. So the window seems very tight, with the 24 hours ones, when did you take the test, send in the result and get the green light? Sorry for all the questions...

NormaSnickers · 08/01/2022 10:13

@Iamblossom We’re doing LFTs before going to Italy (fit to fly antigen test) I’ve read that they have to be done within 24hrs of arriving in Italy so if you check what time your flight should arrive you can work backwards to make sure you do the test within the time frame. Hope that makes sense!

Iamblossom · 08/01/2022 10:55

Thankyou. What website did you order them from?

AdriannaP · 08/01/2022 12:12

You don’t send a ltf in. You order it to your home (with plenty of time), do it 24hr before your arrival time in Italy, send a photo with your passport to the company and they send you a certificate within a few hours. Should cost around £20 per test. Children over 5 need one too.
AdriannaP · 08/01/2022 12:14

See for example www.c19testing.co.uk/rapidtravel

NormaSnickers · 08/01/2022 12:16

@Iamblossom We booked them through TUI and used Chronomics - seems pretty straight forward. We’re due to fly tomorrow so testing is underway here - 1 negative so far, fingers crossed for 2 more Smile
We’ve had to upload a photo of the test and then Chronomics should send a digital certificate that we can use as proof of negative test.

NormaSnickers · 08/01/2022 12:17

Oh I see @AdriannaP beat me to it!

Iamblossom · 08/01/2022 15:07

Thanks very much all of you xxx

NotDonna · 08/01/2022 20:59

@Iamblossom I’ve also used c19testing company where they send them to your home address as explained above. Ours took around 3hrs to be returned. You know yourself they’re negative but they verify and email you the certificate. These are very useful when you need a test overseas too.
OR if you live near an airport I would recommend another company called express test as their LFTs take around 40 minutes to come through. They do the swab & test & verification. Both are very good and have excellent reviews. Happy holidays!

massistar · 09/01/2022 12:06

We used Chronomics for trip to Italy at Christmas. They were fab. Results were emailed within 30 mins of uploading the photo.

DorotheaDiamond · 09/01/2022 18:14

We used randox - results certificate arrived in 46 seconds from upload of photo

Iamblossom · 09/01/2022 20:52

Wow that is speedy
