Hello, hello.

Are you planning anything special/clever/aaah-inspiring for Father's Day (June 20th)?

Have you got any crucial Father's Day dos and don'ts to pass on to the rest of us?

Or are you a Father who can furnish some dos and don'ts from t'other side of the annual ah-yet-another-golf-mug delights?

Please do tell all!

Strongblackcoffee - tee hee!
I got a set of sparkplugs for Christmas once from xdp......
DH will probably get a lie-in, a seriously large bar of Galaxy from the dcs and maybe a day off from DIY.

Planning to tell my ex to pull his finger out and make a bit more effort as a dad

BikeRunSki · 28/05/2010 22:50

Lie in, bacon butties for breakfast and I'll do all chidldcare for the day, leaving him free to ride bike/watch boy telly/stay in bed.

EXCEPT - He did nothing for me, not even a card, on Mother's Day. Didn't actually acknowledge it, and he knows it was because DS "made" (he was 18 months old)a card for me at nursery and DH picked him up. So I am thinking of ignoring Father's Day too.

Bikerunski -glad its not just my dh !!I've never had anything decent except the odd card in 7 yrs now!

smoked salmon/muffins/scrambled eggs (not in bed, the kids will knock it all over!) with fresh coffee and juice, after a lie-in til about 9am (no longer as he hates wasting the day). The day is always either this to start, or early up and out for cooked breakfast before the rush at a nice cafe near the ferry to cornwall, then over to cornwall for a walk.

If there is footie, watch the footie with his son!

Heavy petting from the wife, something nice made by the kids, a long lie in, being woken by excited kids (after a LOOONG lie in) to play in bed, breakfast in bed (not too heavy, made by kids if possible). Watch some TV or go out in the garden for a while and then out for lunch.

Present. A toy. Remote control car or plane something like that. Or some graphic novels. If toys then after lunch playing with the new toy with the kids.

Kids to bed, nice dinner and then TV, some more heavy petting from the wife.

Oh bugger. I had better do something for my father, hadn't I. IMHO DH can lump it with whatever the DC make at school/nursery since that is what I got for Mother's Day, but the DC will probably outvote me on that.

Do you think DH and my father would like a joint present of a promise to drop them off at, and pick them up from, their favourite pub's beer festival the following weekend? That is the most I am prepared to consider, since they both have birthdays shortly afterwards and neither is known for the modesty or affordability of their wish lists.

Take the DC's out of the house as early as possible to give him a lie in. Leave something nice for him to eat and the papers in the kitchen for when he gets up. Get the kids to make him a card.

Reappear around 4ish for an FD tea party involving pass the parcel where he wins a very small present.

Have a glass of wine in the kitchen and make a nice supper whilst he has time with the kids and puts them to bed.

Have lovely supper and wear something special for pudding

What NOT to do: sod off the night before so you'll be on the piss ready for the London-Brighton bike ride. As my ex regularly did.

What TO do: A lie-in, cup of tea in bed (I'm not a fan of breakfast in bed), afternoon out as a family somewhere sunny.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 02/06/2010 08:41

He'll get a nice lie in, breakfast of his choice whenever he gets up and a card (or 3) from our ds's with a present that they have chosen (atm they want to get him a new shirt - I'm suggesting more exciting tings but not having any luck in changing their minds!).

In the afternoon, we'll probably go round to the in-laws to give FIL his cards and gift (which DH will organise).

I have forotton all about my Dad . Just off to put my thinking cap on!

ladylush · 14/06/2010 16:05

6 years ago I gave my h the best fathers day gift ever (ds!) - but easier gifts are photo mugs, lie in with cooked breakfast, pack him off to the pub with mates

lovejoysbird · 14/06/2010 20:52

Was thinking some wireless headphones! More of a gift for me so I don't have to go to sleep listening to the football!! Anyone know which models are the best? Are they any good?

ladylush · 15/06/2010 09:53

Bose are good - don't know if they do wireless though

lovejoysbird · 15/06/2010 09:59

Thanks will look at those. Not sure he needs wireless anyway and not sure they justify the price

SoLongAsItsHealthy · 17/06/2010 16:34

Anyone got any very last-minute ideas for a gift from DS (3 months old) for his Grandad!? Needs to be posted. Aaarrrggghhh, Photobox have let me down. Ordered lovely photo gift but still not arrived
