"peacedove not in the government of Iraq. What Americans have in their own Government is not relevant to the question of whether they are imposing it by force on another country. They may try to impose it on America . OTOH if I lived in an Islamic country they could, and have, imposed sharia law on non-believers living there."
The americans are trying to impose acceptance of their bases in Iraq.
"The Americans bombing Iraq at least tried to avoid innocent civilians, a suicide bomber doesn't."
I don't agree. I find this bloody war at least as abhorrent as and even more so than the suicide bombers. Bombing a city from heights or distance, and claiming that you are not targeting civilians makes me angry that anyone can be thought to be taken for a ride by this argument. And bombing air-raid shelters where women and children have taken refuge, and saying there were Saddam armymen inside, and bombimg wedding parties and claiming they were al-Qaeda because they were carrying rifles, whereas everyone should have known rifles are discharged on such occassions in such cultures, and bombing media people and centres because they show the other side of the story. I am surprised at the admiration you have of the American administration and army in this respect.
When the Quran says it is complete, you have to understand that it will not give you the formula for a pesticide. Quran asks Muslims to reflect on what is around them, and to discover the truth in anture. That is the basis for acquiring scientific knowledge. The same Quran tells Muslims to pray. Some can find five times prayer in that. But it does not tell us how to pray. However, it tells us to take whatever is from the prophet (saaw). It tells us to follow the prophet, and that he is the best example for us. That is justication for learning how the prophet did things. Hence, how to pray is obtained from the prophet. So, in many cases then, the Quran gives us general orders or guidelines, and the details are to be obtained from the prophet.
and even in the hadith
Do not write down anything of me except the Quran. Whoever writes other than that should delete it" (Ahmed, Vol. 1, page 171.....also Sahih Muslim)
Mixing of what God had revealed directly, and what the others had reported from the prophets of the past, had occurred in the other holy books. In fact even comments from the scribes or scholars are to be found in the other holy books, so it is difficult to separate the exact word of God from human words. Hence the prophet said this so that people did not as write the Quran (which is the word of God) together with the prophet's saying. Later in other AHadith, he explicitly asked Muslims to write down what they heard from him.
