Threads that should be banned. What's the point in them apart from annoying others? What purpose do they serve? Ban them!!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 11:38

"I read this in the Daily Mail"

Threads relating to people on benefits/"poor people"

Racist threads

Sexist threads

Threads relating to others size/height

More bloody dolphin name threads.

Is it possible?? They do nothing but irritate people. Some clarity and set rules on here would be helpful, everyone is entitled to start threads but when they are started purly to annoy/upset then this is wrong.

Thanks.

Agree with slubber, the hide button is SO liberating!

MmeLindt · 05/08/2009 14:02

Baby name threads that begin

"Just started TTC and DH hates my favourite name Hyacinthia Buckete, what shall I do?"

ScaredOfCows · 05/08/2009 14:04

What does BD mean?

pagwatch · 05/08/2009 14:04

can I just nominate SAHM vs WOHM to the list of threads that should be banned were we not incredibly supportive of argument and discussion as a means to broaden the mind and combat prejudice.

I find it helps me to look at some ofthose threads and note the posters who are there to provide the fuckwit contravertial opinion which breeds discussion.

I also think that getting wound up is self defeating. It just makes the wankers contravertial posters believe that they are significant. And often these saddos contravertial posters are just a bit attention seeking and pathetic.

pagwatch · 05/08/2009 14:05

fluffy
when you stared that thread was it a very hard and grumpy stare?

weegiemum · 05/08/2009 14:06

BD = Baby Dancing = Shagging.

that I know this!

MmeLindt · 05/08/2009 14:08

The other thing is, if these threads were banned then posters like Pagwatch would not get advice about something totally irrelevant to the thread (how to cut up apples so that they do not go brown).

And they make me feel clever in comparison.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 14:09

I always start threads with a smile. Apart from this one which was started with gripping teeth and a urge to bounce the laptop off a wall.

I resisted.

True Mme. I'm fairly sure that people don't read them to get advice on chopping apples though. Lakeland sell knives that do this I think (or is that keep lettuce crisp when you chop it??). A little lemon juice is a proven method.

Psssst fluffy

Can i just make sure you know I was just teasing you
You posted this - my emphasis

"This thread is turning into the 'things you'd love to say on a thread but don't' thread I stared last week"

pagwatch · 05/08/2009 14:19

eeeuuuwwww

BD means baby dancing or shagging !

Seriously eeeuuuuwww

I was happier when i didn't know this.

So now I know about apples but know about BD. Not sure I am ultimately enriched

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 14:19

started last week. Doh!!

No excuses for this. I just can't spell!!

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 14:22

There are now 17 dolphin name threads.

ScaredOfCows · 05/08/2009 14:27

Goodness, just clicked on one of the dolphin name threads - how many potential names!!!

MmeLindt · 05/08/2009 14:34

I know. I shuddered all day after reading about BDing.

Threads that should selfimplode:

Any thread with the mention of BD, BabyDust

pagwatch · 05/08/2009 14:35

at fluffy

I will now forever have a mental image of you glaring sternly at your laptop

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 14:37

I have to admit I did, just as the blood was starting to boil.

The potential names are all repeated somewhere. I wouldn't want to be the one printing them/reading them.

pagwatch - the words pot kettle & black spring to mind - or is it too controversial to correct spelling on MN....

Oh, and I've tried lemon juice and cling film and my apple slices are still brown by lunchtime. Tesco packs of sliced apple, on the other hand, stay unbrowned.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 14:50

Is that because they spray them with something?

Have you tried an airtight box??

OP posts:
MmeLindt · 05/08/2009 14:51

Isn't is something to do with how the apples are packaged? I think that they spray something on them to make them not go brown.

notwavingjustironing · 05/08/2009 14:52

Could we have an appropriate ticker then do you think?

"It is five days, four hours, ten minutes and twenty seconds since I started a dolphin name thread"

Rusty

My spelling is always awful.
I once posted about going downstairs in bear feet. No one laughed at me
You can correct me any time you want to. I promise to try and remember for next time

RustyBear · 05/08/2009 14:55

I think they must be sprayed. I only tried them a couple of times, I now have one of those Lakeland wedgie things which I keep at work & take a whole apple in.

FluffyBunnyGoneBad · 05/08/2009 14:55

I have you on my list of posters to watch out for now pagwatch.
