If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

it's quite interesting how people react differently to different names...
when I started on things like chat boards and forums, I experimented a bit with names...and in the beginning I tried out several different names on the very same chatboard, posted in the same style and all that, but to some names (very simple, and not agressive names) people instantly reacted really agressive towards me, and with other names people would be more welcoming and stuff.....it was quite surreal...

talking about names...I just changed back to my non-christmas name, btw....although, that one is still newish aswell....for teh longest time I was 3andnomore, lol...but got so bored with it....

foxytocin · 30/12/2008 13:13

I like my name and it always reminds me of how I came to mumsnet - was lurking for ages then saw something I wanted to respond to urgently so picked a name quickly - 'lurker' because I intended to go back to lurking - ha ha! And the Northern bit because I couldn't abide anyone thinking I was one of those southern wussy mumsnetters!

Anyway I got a warm welcome so I became addicted hung around. If I namechanged permanently it just wouldn't feel like me iyswim? That matters more to me than what people think of the name tbh - I have some 'friends' here - on my postnatal thread mainly abnd I know they would recognise me under any name - but it wouldn't feel like me or the mumsnet me iyswim?

FairLadyRantALot · 30/12/2008 13:19

someone even remebers 3andnomore....oh wow...I am blown away...I mean it....
psssstt...have we had a fall out, is that why you remember...I mean, I know I seem to have a cunning ability to tick people off....only time I tend to be noticed, lol....

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 13:20

northernlurker -- can you remember what it was you wanted to respond to urgently? REally, really want to know ...

NorthernLurker · 30/12/2008 13:21

I remember 3andnomore too - because I always used to think it had a touch of 'protesting too much' about it and was waiting for the BFP announcement

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 13:22

you will still be searchable colbeck, so we can see for ourselves what jaded you back then.

aaargh, blardy RL. DS is having a massive strop at the Wii cos he can't catch a virtual fish. Believe it or not he is actually shouting "stupid fish" at the TV .

colbeck, stick around, you know you want to . Or as revjustabout says, give the nod next time so we can all welcome you back with open arms

llama - yes I can - but it was very dull. Not a request for Boden covers for fruit shoot bottles or a thread about chucking out your dh for eating a sausage roll in front of the children - if that's the sort of thing you were wondering?

FairLadyRantALot · 30/12/2008 13:23

NOrthern...tbh, I changed my name from 3andnomore mostly because I got bored with it...and also because it always freaked me out when people called me 3andmore, rather than 3andnomore....thought it might be a bad omen....
I loved being called a FairLady (not that I am one, of course...lol) and RantALot, well, that is so me....but had lots of fun with my x-mas name, being called a Slut is so funny...

roflmao at revs secret cult!

Piffle · 30/12/2008 13:23

yes it seems the modern church collection plate accepts Paypal

I made that up obviously as am God less infidel for all I know it is likely true...

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 13:24

will join cult if rev has a. long black beard b. turban c. lovely Indian retreat and or nappy type robes

FairLadyRantALot · 30/12/2008 13:25

lol Northers...most definitely was not about protesting to much....I love my Kids....but would rather shoot myself than have another, tbh....

oh rev...so excited...I am invited to the secret cult....jumping up and down in excitement....my Kids, downstairs, probably thnk we are having an earthquake right now, lol

NorthernLurker · 30/12/2008 13:26

The modern church certainly takes direct debits - and Gift Aid - we LOVE Gift Aid!

fairlady - that seems like a wise decision - you don't want to be staring at a pregnancy test and say to dh - 'it's all the fault of mumsnet' - He might get the wrong idea

FairLadyRantALot · 30/12/2008 13:26

lol

stuffitllama · 30/12/2008 13:27

no but Northern I think i was you that made me change my very first name

You told me to "shut up" and it was the very first time you had ever said it

I was freaking out a first time mum whose baby had temp after vaccinations

this really is like snogging your first boyfriend

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 30/12/2008 13:27
NorthernLurker · 30/12/2008 13:30

Really stuffitllama? Sorry I do get a bit vexed with vaccination threads - should really stay away from them. I'm sure there was no need to name change though - I'm not vindictive

jujumaman · 30/12/2008 13:30

Colbeck, just for you, I will keep my name for a few more days at least .And because I want to be your friend I will look at your dilemma and possibly post

Colbeck · 30/12/2008 13:31

You can search if you like, but I suspect it's all alot less intersting than I am amking it sound.

Although, my most notorious momemt when I and a few others surrounded a helpless Cod (can you imagine it)with pitchforks has been deleted.

Oh dear, why am I admitting to all this??

Oh yes, because I'm going again soon.
