If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Ooh ooh this gives me a chance to brandish my single successful piece of original wordplay: the catapostrophe! (Coined when some poor child's teacher had written a notice along the lines of 'Please ensure all library books' are returned tomorrow')

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 30/12/2008 00:04

two hail mary's ruty.

Actually, my opinion was about John Craven.

catinthehat1 · 30/12/2008 00:05

It's terrific, try and watch it if you get a chancesee here
It sort of freaks people out, but it sticks with you. The Lady in the Radiator character is very worrisome to some people.

ruty · 30/12/2008 00:06

wasn't that a rogue apostrophe onebat

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 30/12/2008 00:06

lol at store of original wordplay laid aside for a rainy day

John Craven's Newsround, huh? What a biased selection of age-appropriate news items that was? Right?

holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 00:06

I used to fancy John Craven. I refused to accompany my Dad to the BBC canteen once because of an overwhelming Craven-based fear/desire. (This was last year.)

winestein · 30/12/2008 00:07

Apostasy.. what an apt word!

Pssst... PW... don't drink. You start missing letters out of words an everyfink. Am a bit upset about the non-opinion thing though. Ok. Hows about Steven Spielberg?

lou33 · 30/12/2008 00:08

home made chips are always better than shop bought

ruty has been judged and found lacking

holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 00:09

Righto Cat. Just as soon as I've seen Madagascar 2.

ruty · 30/12/2008 00:10

home made chips? i have a deep fear of them ever since i tried to clean my mother's chip pan at the age of 11. She was extremely displeased that i had thrown away the year old oil in it.

Quattrocento · 30/12/2008 00:10

Apostasy is a fabulous word - and one I don't think I've ever spoken. I'm trying it out loud now, just to see what it sounds like.

It is nearly but not quite as good as catapostrophe

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 30/12/2008 00:10

We-eell. It is a moot point (and a matter of considerable debate amongst pedants worldwide) whether a proper noun which ends in a vowel should take an apostrophe in the plural.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/12/2008 00:11

Oh! How could I refuse? It's been a long time since I've been offered sausage with a side order of nuts.

winestein · 30/12/2008 00:11

Homemade chips? Mmmm. Just discovered, only tonight how to make homemade chips in the gastro-pub style, only without 2 tonnes of lard. Heaven.

ruty · 30/12/2008 00:12

[falls over with effort of thinking]

Quattrocento · 30/12/2008 00:12

No it isn't moot. To admit to an apostrophe there would be an apostacy.

catinthehat1 · 30/12/2008 00:12

wimp

winestein · 30/12/2008 00:12

Ruty

Year old chip oil? How are you still with us?

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 30/12/2008 00:13

overwhelming Craven-based fear/desire. (This was last year.)

A craven fear?

Quattrocento · 30/12/2008 00:13

Fuck, I meant apostasy

SwedesInADirtyMacAndSunglasses · 30/12/2008 00:14

How can a man who looks like this make a cult film?

NorthernLurker · 30/12/2008 00:14

Glass of water VVV? Don't be a wuss about the nuts - it is Christmas after all!

I'm ignoring all the apostrophe talk lest I accidentally reveal I was off the day we did that at school

expatinscotland · 30/12/2008 00:15

OMG. Quattro just swore!

I'm taking notes here .

SwedesInADirtyMacAndSunglasses · 30/12/2008 00:15

OBM - I think she meant a cravin' in the American sense.

holidaywonk · 30/12/2008 00:15

Do you know, it's never occurred to me to have strong feelings about Spielberg. He's just there, like Tarmac or something.

Erm... I quite like Indiana Jones (haven't seen the latest one, Mark Kermode says it's rubbish and he's usually right isn't he).

You couldn't really argue that he's a bad film-maker, could you?
