If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

this thread is so bizarre - one post is 'pontipines' and the next post is 'bitches'

llareggub · 29/12/2008 20:12

AnneofAvonlea, I really fancied Gilbert, you know.

Anyway, to summarise Monday: more of the same, except reported in t'papers.

Don't go, Dior. You have nothing to berate yourself with.

Rhubarb. What an excellent post. I am with you.

Mr Justabout, thank you for your objectivity. (Are you actually from Trollope?)

Dear Moldies: (several people have expressed this already - sorry to repeat)

People are angry and need to express it. You have made a choice that you all appear to be happy with - fine.

When you try to justify it, it throws just enough meths on the fire to reignite the anger. When you (not all of you - really) are a little economical with the, you know, people like me and MP feel honour-bound to get involved again.

Personally I am glad that you are still here.

However, when some Moldies (I must be frank and mention PrincessPeaHead's shocking character assassination last night on the deleted thread) come here to attack, they will be told to fuck off back there - that's surely to be expected.

Remember: we have no idea what you are saying on Moldies. We are therefore, unsurprisingly, a little suspicious. We may be wrong - but you cannot change this. It is the inevitable result of the choice that you made.

All our nastiness is, luckily or unluckily, out in the open (and I apologize again for my unpleasantness last night.)

I am sure that nastiness from this end upsets you: but again, I hope you can see that this is a result of the choice that you made. It didn't just pop out of the ether.

Trying to be objective, and in the spirit of the New Year, I think that one thing that would help would be if you could agree with each other to swallow your tongues for a bit. I'm sure this will be hard - but it will be the quickest way back.

I am (once again) going to try and withhold from posting unless I see untruths being bandied.

Before I do that, I must say that the untruth which has me perpetually pinging back to these threads as if on knicker-elastic is the one where Moldies say 'we had no idea that we would cause such hurt'.

There was a very long Moldies thread in which this was discussed in depth and I remember very clearly who was involved. Since Moldies is so small and that thread was so controversial, I feel justified in assuming that almost all of the regular posters will have seen it. So you cannot, in all conscience, claim that this potential hurt had never occurred to you till now.

This doesn't mean that you are wholly without defence; simply that this particular one is not an honest one - and that every time it is offered, I feel obliged to post.

I really, really hope that things can move forward. If it is possible for you to assign to this thread the status of 'Steam Vent: for the express purpose of the Angry Ones to Be Angry and thus Move On', it will be over all the more quickly.

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 29/12/2008 20:28

I remember Pontipinefinder btw.

Glad I wasn't being, y'know, lezzerish.

In Simpsons language, that truly sucks and blows dittany. I do really feel for you given that they didn't tell you to your face. They didn't lie to your face, but used weasel words.

The only consolation I can give is that even the originators of mouldies - the ones who are most convinced of their right-ness in all of this - will have uneasy moments or downright guilt about all of this. Earlier on in the thread, I think it was hunkermonker who said that LL felt awful, for instance.

The problem with paranoia is that it never makes you feel better - even if they are out to get you, a paranoid person can invent worse things than they'll ever face in reality. Either you get screwed over by people you care about now and again, or you do it to yourself every day.

MrJustAbout · 29/12/2008 20:31

Onebat, are you calling my wife a Trollope?

ahundredtimes · 29/12/2008 20:33

This was l-o-n-g ladies. PW saying she was Ned Flanders made me lol and was in fact a highlight.

You know, now that the Moldies have stopped being elitist exclusives and have become social outcasts, I am starting to find the idea of posting of there quite attractive. Does anyone else feel this way? Confused I still have a hangover at it's 8.30.

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 29/12/2008 20:33

Might I just pass my condolences to 'hunkermonker'? For Real.

Why would hunkermonker (who is she?) need your condolences, OBM?

MrJA, good posts. Wasn't me who said that re LL though.

So some people have an invite to go & chat about things that they can chat about on here & they might be chatting about people chatting about them on here as well.

Don't know how they find the time.
