Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

roisin · 24/12/2008 03:09

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 09:30

FFS don't you lot sleep?????

Stocking presents must be wrapped, my kids would be really dissapointed if they weren't and the more they are wrapped the longer they take to open them while I still try to sleep

On the subject of Moldies, this is my first and last post on it as I feel it would really affect my RL if I let it so I won't

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 24/12/2008 09:35

TBH i think people posting about OP have missed the point that this thread has happily become a completely irrelevant thread

and hurrah for that

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 09:38

I'm just wondering if we'll get a card off them on Christmas day...

Will have to start calling them the 'Down from Moldies'. DFM's.

How does that sound?

Happy Christmas Moldies by the way...in case Six hasn't passed on my message.

I am feeling all Christmassy.

cornsilk · 24/12/2008 09:46

This thread cheered me up last night Cheers to all that unknowingly helped to lift my christmas spirit! Hope you're feeling a bit more christmassy today FAQ!

jingleMAMADIVAsbells · 24/12/2008 09:49

WTF? I cant actually be arsed reading through whole thread.

What the hell is all this about the moldies?

Flihgtattendant · 24/12/2008 09:51

Nah, don't bother mamadiva...it ain't worth the time it'd take you...plus the other 5 1000+ threads!!

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 24/12/2008 09:51

thanks cornsilk, I'm trying - DS's are very excited that it's Christmas Eve, I'm still pretending to be excited and Christmassy so I don't let them down.

Unfortunately most of today is going to be filled with very mundane boring stuff (like tidying) - although I've put a Christmassy spin on it by telling them they'll have to help me (either by picking bits up, or playing with DS3 to keep him occupied) so that it's easier for FC to creep in and put the presents under the tree.

Hulababy · 24/12/2008 09:53

Morning all; you all cheered me up last night Have a fab day!

wheresthehamster · 24/12/2008 10:20

I need to go and do Christmas in RL now so am signing off for a couple of days.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

To Moldies - have a good one and remember to come back often.

To the rest - Let's remember MN is still a good place to come and moan, laugh and give and receive support.

To MNHQ - Thanks for providing a platform for the above!

Now off to wrap and get squiffy

magnolia74 · 24/12/2008 10:24

I am trying to do real life but moving will mean I have to clean the cooker

Ok here I go.....................................

SixSpotBurNativity · 24/12/2008 10:27

Thank you Flihgtattendant - sorry I missed it first time around but will pass it on.

And a very happy Christmas to all!

VinegarTitsTheSeasonToBeJolly · 24/12/2008 10:33

YAY its Christmas Eve.........! ONE more sleep

Merry Christmas Moldies and Mnetters

PeachyBidsYouNadoligLlawen · 24/12/2008 10:33

OK can I ask a very sane level question about something I don't understand?

Think of Moldies as an organic corner shop and MN as Waitrose
(rather apt IMO LOL)

Now Waitrose ain't gonna care if said corner sho opens and will likely ignore it and remain unaffected

And so indeed the Moldies have a complete right to exista s a separate website

What I don't understand is this

The cherry picking recruitment metod smacks of corner shop standing in waitrose foyer with leaflets

Now I understand that MN makes 'cash' by advertisinga n selling its demographiic

the demographic, from the trading partners listed, is a certain kiddle class affluent type represented by boden / white company / GLTC

The Moldies seem to me to be on the whole theat demographic (we shall henceforth call them boden-shaggers but in a light hearted way).

So what happens as MN's main demographioc falls? Do we end up with a site instead sponsored by SMA and Cow & Gate?

In which case people like myslef, tiktok and VS (I suspect- only a guess) will vanish

I shall refer to us the 'New Look-shaggers )

Seriously- is ther e a clause in mn user agreement about not contacting contacts made through mn for marketing of products including rival websites? If nt ten I suggest it might be a consideration?

AnneOfAvonlea · 24/12/2008 10:42

So glad that my stocking present wrapping wasnt in vein.

Peachy - I dont think that the demographic of MN will alter significantly. What % of MN users do the Moldies represent. Obviously most were prolific posters but the vacuum will be filled with new prolific posters, many of whom I expect will be a similar demographic. And FWIW - I received BF advice from you and TikTok many moons ago and I remain grateful

daftpunk · 24/12/2008 10:43

it's christmas eve....we'll get the lawyers in on jan 2nd....
