If you (still) feel the need to discuss Moldies, please do it here so folks can hide this if they want to.

Well hopefully the title says it all. There's been a suggestion, and we agree, that as we did with Baby P and the Mc Canns we just have one thread where anyone who feels they still have anything to add on this subject can post and those who'd rather move on can hide it away.

It feels strange to put this thread in site stuff as we are definitely not wanting to encourage further discussion of Moldies (we have presents to wrap too you know ) but we weren't sure where else to put it.

We will delete any new Moldies threads that are started, so please feel free to report them in case we miss any (what with wrapping the presents and all...)

And if you do want to carry on the discussion please remember that Mumsnet's here to make everyone's lives easier and not the reverse, and that Christmas is a time of goodwill to all mumsnetters past, present and future

Thanks,
MNHQ

Quattro: DH made me wrap our CM's Christmas present even though it was already in a gift box. Said she'd expect it. Which she would, Still seems pretty pointless to me.

Stocking presents not wrapped here - how would you wrap the nuts?

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 23:19

dontcallmehon - yes, it can be daunting at first but once you have jumped in once and survived it gets to be second nature.

holidaywonk · 23/12/2008 23:20

OBM, what did you do in the garden for nine hours, if you don't mind me asking?

dontcallmehon · 23/12/2008 23:20

I don't wrap stocking presents as I'm v v lazy indeed and it seems like a lot of effort.

Tinker · 23/12/2008 23:20

I'm so confused over the whole stocking palaver. We, as kids, got a pillow case. And that was it. Nothing from my parents, all came in a pillow case. I tried teh same with my eldest and got accused of being mean for not buying her any presents. Lesson learnt - get some credit. But made teh mistake of buying stockings as decoration which she purloined and expects filled again! Lesson not learnt.

I am aghast at you non-wrapping slatterns. This is what has gone so terribly wrong with this country.

goldFAQinsenceandmyrrh · 23/12/2008 23:21

Cornsilk - I bet I can outdo you on the slovenly mothering though - not only do my DS's not have Stockings, I also didn't manage to get them Advent Calendars either

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 23/12/2008 23:21

I am going to do the stocking presents by scrunching with tissue paper, one piece of sellotape max.

I've invested in a handy wrist-worn dispenser of pre-cut tape pieces. I pretend I'm Helen Mirren. It's a tough job, but someone's got to do it. And I at least have the necessary toolage.

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 23:22

We had pillow cases as a child too.

I take the credit fr most now. FC gets credit for one main gift, the rest of credit goes to whoever bought it.

I am def taking the credit for the blooming piano, esp as I have to make it!!!

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 23:22

What do folk put in their chn's stockings then? More toys and stuff?

Quattrocento · 23/12/2008 23:22

Blairite

lou33 · 23/12/2008 23:22

i have forgotten the selection boxes this year, and almost forgot the crackers

EffiePerine · 23/12/2008 23:22

Thanks for the kind wishes - I'd better not be having this baby on Xmas Day, is all I can say. Unless it's divine judgement for my present wrapping policy

RustyBear · 23/12/2008 23:23

Dontcallmehon - do you wrap stocking presents?

I used to wrap them in tissue paper, no sellotape so nice & quick.

I also used to add a mini box of coco pops & a box of juice so we didn't have to get up to do breakfast too early (luckily neither of my two liked milk with their cereal)

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 23:23

Sharp intake of breath at FAQ's advent calendar
confession!

Hulababy · 23/12/2008 23:23

I nearly forgot crackers. Had to leave my place int he aitrose till, have shopping unloaded onto conveyer and run and grab some!

EffiePerine · 23/12/2008 23:24

stockings trad contain sweets. 3 nuts. An orange, Socks. And stationery.

Quattrocento · 23/12/2008 23:24

That settles it. I can't possibly wrap any more presents without pre-cut sellotape. I don't have the right tools ...

EffiePerine · 23/12/2008 23:24

FAQ: our CM bought DS's advent calender

onebatmotherofgoditschilly · 23/12/2008 23:24

OBM, what did you do in the garden for nine hours, if you don't mind me asking?

I and the children trailed around the homes of various local friends. They were delighted to see us on this, the day before the day before Christmas, when everyone tries to get everything done.

I've now permanently lost the ability to say sorry; it's worn out through over-use.

ruty · 23/12/2008 23:25

ah onebat. Feeling nostalgia for my youth. tangerines, a smelly rubber and a Mr Men book if i was lucky, in one of my dad's old socks.

OF COURSE YOU DON'T WRAP STOCKING PRESENTS WOMAN.

cornsilk · 23/12/2008 23:25

LOL at breakfasts in Rustybear's christmas stockings!

dontcallmehon · 23/12/2008 23:25

No, but have never done stockings before, so am wondering if I should. The presents just seem too miniscule to bother wrapping, but I do feel like a slattern if I don't...

holidaywonk · 23/12/2008 23:25

I've been deleted once today Quattro. I can be deleted again.
