Disable Adblocker when I'm not using one?

Why am I getting pop ups to disable an ad blocker when I'm not using one? I was seeing Mumsnet ads prior to this change today. After clicking proceed a couple of times, I can no longer browse the site. Whatever software Mumsnet has employed to deal with this issue isn't working.

Hi OP

Thanks for flagging this. Could we ask you to double-check that you definitely don't have an ad blocker running? Ad blockers are the most common cause of this issue (they’re often used as Chrome extensions). Could you also check whether ad blocking is enabled on your router?

If there’s definitely no ad blocker running, could you let us know what device and browser you're using to access the site? Could you also tell us if you're browsing in incognito mode? Finally, are you using any antivirus software that might have ad blocking enabled?

Sorry for all the questions - your answers will help us investigate what's happening so we can get it sorted as soon as possible.

No Adblocker is in place. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S24, using chrome with no extensions and I see ads everywhere else so I don't think my router is blocking ads. Nor am I using incognito mode.

I've also reported this, tagged Mumsnet staff in response to their questions and never had a response. Firefox on Windows 10, Adblock plus disabled for Mumsnet, no other extensions. No adblocking options selected in windows settings. But Mumsnet still thinks I have a adblocker when using Firefox and won't let me use the site.

I now get around it by using Edge browser for Mumsnet only. This works (shows ads) and has the added advantage that the tracking cookies Mumsnet now insists on are only tracking my Mumsnet activity rather than everything (cookies are browser specific).

Hi @Mayfly3. Thanks for getting back to us with those details. Could we ask you to try what @pencilcaseandcabbage has done and try using a different browser and letting us know if that makes any difference? Thank you!

I shouldn't have to use a different browser. Mumsnet have implemented changes which have made the site mostly unusable for some users. I don't want to use Edge because on my phone it is linked to my work Microsoft account.

Whatever company you've employed to do your ad blocking isn't fit for purpose.
