... but please, please, please can you put a stop to posters posting pictures of their genitals?

Absolutely
there is zero ned for these sorts of pictures.
not one decent medical professional would advise based on random images on mumsnet
Their only advice would be to seek medical advice from a health professional so the images are completely unnecessary.
And lord knows where these images are even from

There's a thread started in the early hours of this morning with a picture of a shitty nappy 🤮

Obviously I didn't click on it but I was really incensed to see that thread title. Please please please listen to reason and stop them all!

MyBeloved · 17/02/2025 15:07

For the love of all that's holy...please ban ALL images. It just isn't worth the risk!

theboffinsarecoming · 17/02/2025 15:20

"Why even have the photo option anyway?"

Well not having it would stuff up all the 'Plant ID please' and 'How do I design this garden?' on the gardening board for one thing.

Not to mention the obliatory cat pics on the Litter Tray board...

That made me feel ill. I don't want to be a pearl clutcher, but how foul is THAT, posting a picture of your baby's shitty NAPPY? What the fuck? Confused

I hid the thread instantly.

THIS! I also don't want to see a photo of someone's wide open vagina (as someone said further back!) or their arse, or vulva or anything, and I certainly don't want to see images of any child(ren) on here... Or any parts of any child(ren!) As has been said, seek medical advice from a qualified HCP for goodness sake!

Hi @BIWI the issue here wasn't images being uploaded, it was links posted from an external site that allowed a preview of the image here. Turning off images would not have prevented this and since the image itself was never hosted by us, it did not go through our AI filters. We've since taken steps to prevent this.

In light of what has happened, we've decided to no longer allow any of the 'medical opinion', etc, images you've described. Thanks very much for your input.

Edited

Considering you've said that you are no longer going to allow medical opinion/sensitive images, how come someone has been able to upload a photo of a lump in their arse crack to ask what it is over the weekend?

Hi there @Avelina. Could you let us know where this image appeared or hit the report button on it please?

Avelina · 10/03/2025 13:29

@HebeMumsnet there's two threads in womens health called 'petrified of this lump'

Cursory · 15/03/2025 07:55

I raised this again too and the response was that some intimate images may be allowed ‘in the interests of moving the discussion along’.

I’m not sure what possible discussion could be moved along by a photo of someone’s arse crack or nipple.
