There are so many questions about the follow-up to her report.
It would be great to have a chance to clarify proposed treatment/therapy for children and also to thank her!

Second the motion!!

Harassedevictee · 16/10/2024 14:50

I support this. My question is about informed consent.

AnneLovesGilbert · 16/10/2024 14:51

Yes please!

ArabellaScott · 16/10/2024 15:11

Yes, I'd like to ask about the planned research/study, and ethics of prescribing GnRH medications to children.

kiterunning · 16/10/2024 15:23

Think a list of questions may be the way to go. H.C. could select from them and answer in her own time to avoid the usual ploppers.

I also support inviting Cass. There are a lot of issues left to be clarified and a lot of misinformation going around.

The users of MN are likely to be the best informed demographic anywhere, and a talk between us and Cass could be exceptionally useful.

Please do invite her.

Beebopmoon · 16/10/2024 18:24

Yes please.

FictionalCharacter · 16/10/2024 18:27

Yes please!

PaminaMozart · 16/10/2024 18:30

Dame Hilary was on Women's Hour last week and it is clear that she really on top of all the complex issues associated with gender dysphoria and transgender identities.

Please do invite her! I agree that allowing her to respond to a list of questions is likely to be a better format than an open discussion.

BodyKeepingScore · 16/10/2024 18:31

I would be very interested in this also

PizzaNinja · 16/10/2024 18:48

This is something I’d be very interested to see.

hockeysticks89 · 16/10/2024 18:50

Yes please!

Zeagull · 16/10/2024 18:51

Registering my interest 👍

SqueakyDinosaur · 16/10/2024 18:53

Definitely. I'd love to see her on a Q&A here.

BonfireLady · 16/10/2024 20:30

Yes please!

Questions in advance sound like a great way of doing it. The Q&A you did with Bridget Phillipson in that format worked really well IMO, @HebeMumsnet

She's done a great job under incredibly difficult circumstances. To say the report is game-changing is an understatement. It'd be great to understand her thoughts on how the recommendations can potentially dovetail with the education side of health (occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and educational psychology) - this is the area my question would focus on.

This post alone has me thinking that Hilary Cass is better served by giving the echo chamber that is Mumsnet a miss. "Ploppers", indeed. They are just voices they don't exactly match the prevailing views of FWR.

JellySaurus · 17/10/2024 06:31

Yes, please!

Perfectly reasonable to include some dissenting views in the questions offered to her.

I’d also be interested in this aspect.

kiterunning · 17/10/2024 07:10

Dissenting views would obviously be included but I would imagine that the session would focus on concerned parents and their hopes for a better future for their children.

LoobiJee · 17/10/2024 07:15

It might broaden the topic out too much, but I’d also be interested in her insight into / reflections on mental health in children and adolescents more generally, and any factors linked to a deterioration in young people’s mental health over the last decade or so, compared to previously.

SqueakyDinosaur · 17/10/2024 07:17

@MessinaBloom I am genuinely interested in what sort of question might be asked from the position of opposition to Dr Cass' report. I don't know what your views are, but assuming they don't fall within what I suspect we'd agree on as the prevailing ones on MN, what would you like to ask her? Or alternatively, what do you think people with GI views would want to ask her?

For the record, one question I'd like to ask her would be, "Looking at the whole cycle of your report, from commissioning and scoping through to publication and response, what advice would you give to Professor Emily Simanoff, who's leading the adult equivalent of the process which produced your report?"

Chillisintheair · 17/10/2024 07:21

I think one hand it would be helpful for individuals but on the other hand MN is seen as a very bias place and I think it would negatively impact on how others should view her a neutral.

Waitwhat23 · 17/10/2024 08:07

I would be interested in this. My question would be around the Cass Report and it's implications on Scotland and of those response from Scottish Government.

I agree that a list of questions to respond to would be the best approach. It would allow for actual questions from those with dissenting views but avoid the inevitable footstamping sorties from Twitter.

'MN is seen as a very bias place'

By whom?

IMO this is exactly where the topic should go. It's about holistic care, which should join the dots beyond the lens of gender identity. As a paediatrician, she's in a great position to add her voice to this.
