Would you like to be in a documentary about community websites and say nice things about Mumsnet (pretty please)?

Hello Mumsnetters!

Here at Banyak film we're producing a documentary on how the Internet has created some remarkable communities where people freely share knowledge and resources. We think Mumsnet is a prime example of "people providing for each other" and would like to learn more.

We're looking for parents who can speak enthusiastically about Mumsnet. How has it helped you with parenthood? How does it compare with the parental advice you can get through government channels? Have you ever used the community as a platform for campaigns on childcare or parenting issues?

Our documentary will be broadcast by a national TV channel later this year.

If you'd like to talk more about what's involved please mail Matan - [email protected]

Thanks!

I'd need my face blurred out and my scottish accent diguised otherwise MIL would recognise me and do a search and find out all the things I've said about her

I'll do it.
If it wasn;t for MN I wouldn't be so determined to get my VBAC and certainly wouldn't have the balls to answer back to my consultant.

The two things I think have the least info government wise are breastfeeding and birth choices/trauma which MN covers greatly.

Ledodgy · 10/03/2008 17:43

When are the interviews have I got time to lose two stone before I get filmed?

Mamazon · 10/03/2008 17:43

My parents have a very different parenting style to me.

Mn has provided me with the support network i needed to continue to parent the way i wanteds to and resist the pressures of my famly.

As i single parent it has given me a social life, albeit from my front room, that i would not have had otherwise.

But most importantly i have learned so much abotu the help available for me and the information and support i have recieved with Ds sn has been beyond compare.

I am happy to wax lyrical about it.

so long as i get a full make up team lol

Mamazon · 10/03/2008 18:06

ooh wow. got a reply already.

FrannyandZooey · 10/03/2008 18:10

I would love to do this if it wouldn't totally out me
sorry

BecauseImWorthIt · 10/03/2008 18:12

There's more to MN than just parenting, btw. As a parent of older children I use it only occasionally for help with child-related issues - and a lot more for general advice/help and support and general entertainment in all kinds of other things, e.g.

an arts and crafts MNetter who repaired my watch forme
a French MNetter who bought and sent me some specific French stationery
a book swap club

In return, I have contributed and hopefully helped other MNetters - via the Christmas appeals and financial donations to a few very in-need MNetters

Nothing here about feeding, nappy changing or controlling tantrums!

pukkapatch · 10/03/2008 18:12

my initial reaction was. of course.
however, i quite like the fact that rl people dont know who i am. although if they really wanted to, they could figure it out. so i dont really want to be on national telly outing myself to everyone.

Ledodgy · 10/03/2008 18:13

I've jsut emailed but they probably want people who are in or around London.

Nbg · 10/03/2008 18:39

I'd love to do it but am buggered if they only want londoners.

In fact sorry to say this (not your fault mn) but it does piss me off that the whole universe is centered around bloody London.

There are other parts of the country you know!

Would love to say nice things about mumsnet, but really would not want to be in a documentary.

If they want to get their people to talk to my people, I will give them my opinions, but no cameras
