Biscuit...?

So it means 'no comment' and 'here, have a biscuit'. Got it 👍🏻😂

It actually originated as a patronising "you are too ridiculous to respond too, have a biscuit"

Used on threads, for example, where the OP was being a complete dick about a first world problem and acting like a princess. Or when someone is being so much of a dick and fails to see it, despite the whole thread telling them so.

Eg:

OP: "My selfish sister won't watch my DC for free any more and she's only done it for 2 years anyway. I can't sleep and I'll have to quit my job because of it. So I'm suing her for my loss of earnings too, because now I can't afford my personal trainer."

Poster: Biscuit

This. The last time I used it it was from a poster stamping her feet over her new boyfriend getting her ‘nothing’ for her birthday. I mean he did take her on holiday with meals out a week before her birthday, he couldn’t do it on the actual day as he had a work commitment he couldn’t get out of. And on her birthday he gave her a card in the morning, then after a 12 hour shift he phoned her on the way home and asked her what she’d like to eat as he was going to stop at the supermarket for ingredients. But an actual holiday, card and home cooked meal wasn’t enough, she couldn’t believe he had the gall to not buy her presents and take her out for another dinner.

I thought it was that takes the biscuit.

caringcarer · 15/05/2023 23:24

I thought 'you take the biscuit' for talking rubbish.

DoggosAloud · 15/05/2023 23:33

I remember when Mumsnet deleted a post where someone posted it, which I thought was strange as it’s one of the emojis they provide. They complained but I don’t know what mumsnets answer was.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 16/05/2023 10:27

@aliceinwonderland99 the Biscuit was generally used to denote 'no comment' but it's all a bit Kafkaesque because it was interpreted differently depending on the context.

Realise this offers absolutely no clarity to the situation!

I remember someone putting Biscuit Biscuit once, and a poster thought it was tits!

I've always assumed it was 'tit' too. As in , You're being a tit..

Hummusanddipdip · 20/05/2023 02:50

I always thought it was a sunflower 😅

merrymelodies · 20/05/2023 02:54

Apart from the Gordon Brown reference, I take it to mean that an OP is too ridiculous/OTT to merit a response.

fUNNYfACE36 · 20/05/2023 04:54

It means mo comment..
Or sore bumhole!

BIWI · 21/05/2023 16:47

Just for clarity - Gordon Brown didn't refuse to answer the question. MNHQ were sifting through all the questions that MNetters had posted, and 'what is your favourite biscuit?' wasn't asked of him.

I always assumed it meant eat the biscuit so you shut up and don't say anything
