Biscuit...?

OP posts:
Barstools123 · 15/05/2023 21:13

Hm I usually read it to mean 'bollocks' 'bore off' or 'piss off' or a bit of all three

PolaDeVeboise · 15/05/2023 21:13

It means 'that takes the biscuit'

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/05/2023 21:14

TabithaTitanium · 15/05/2023 21:16

It means ‘no comment’. It tends to be used when someone posts something fake or goady that doesn't deserve a proper comment.

aliceinwonderland99 · 15/05/2023 21:17

Interesting that everyone seems to interpret it differently 😆

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 15/05/2023 21:17

It's definitely no comment and follows a webchat with - I think - Gordon Brown.

Knackeredhamster · 15/05/2023 21:18

Oh yes that was it the Gordon Brown webchat.
Tho I can't remember the context.

NisekoWhistler · 15/05/2023 21:18

I thought it was a biscuit to feed the troll

I thought it was a biscuit to feed the troll

Grin

I've always read it as no comment, just here to watch this kick off...

DamnAndDashIt · 15/05/2023 21:20

It was from when Gordon Brown wouldn't confirm to us what his favourite biscuit was.

Funny that it was controversial enough to make the headlines back then!

ShowOfHands · 15/05/2023 21:20

He refused to tell us his favourite biscuit so it came to mean " no comment".

😊 so did I

Missingmyusername · 15/05/2023 21:31

Thought it was a Doughnut.

vodkaredbullgirl · 15/05/2023 21:35

Jammy dodger

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 15/05/2023 21:46

I thought it was this (I googled because I couldn't explain myself!)

A sarcastic response to one who is excited about or seeks praise for a minor or insignificant accomplishment.

lljkk · 15/05/2023 21:53

"you said something ridiculous"

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 15/05/2023 21:55

It is indeed from the Gordon Brown ‘no comment’ about his favourite biscuit we chat.

Thursdayschild1 · 15/05/2023 21:56

I thought it was a doughnut.

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/05/2023 21:56

It means "meh".

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 15/05/2023 21:56

(But it’s ‘no comment’ in a ‘your post is baloney/bullshit/crapola’)

ShowOfHands · 15/05/2023 22:12

"aah well done have a biscuit" is definitely sarcasm and in fairly common use but on Mumsnet, the biscuit was specifically introduced to mean "no comment". It's a bit of an in joke.

InceyWinceySpidy · 15/05/2023 22:13

It actually originated as a patronising "you are too ridiculous to respond too, have a biscuit"

Used on threads, for example, where the OP was being a complete dick about a first world problem and acting like a princess. Or when someone is being so much of a dick and fails to see it, despite the whole thread telling them so.

Eg:

OP: "My selfish sister won't watch my DC for free any more and she's only done it for 2 years anyway. I can't sleep and I'll have to quit my job because of it. So I'm suing her for my loss of earnings too, because now I can't afford my personal trainer."

Poster: Biscuit

TokyoSushi · 15/05/2023 22:14

Here, have a biscuit.

It means you're being ridiculous.

MrsDoylesDoily · 15/05/2023 22:15

I can't help thinking of hemorrhoids whenever I see it!
