I find this advert really unsettling - it looks like an infantilised / vulnerable woman to me. So, I just wanted to flag this.

Hello @PikachusSmarterBrother thanks for posting. If you see this ad again, can we please ask that you set your device to airplane mode, then click on the ad? This will bring up the URL but you won't load the page. Then share the URL with us. Sorry for the faff, but this will help us identify what the ad is and if it's inappropriate, we can prevent it from showing again. Thank you.

shreddies · 24/12/2022 09:17

I get this ad too

Dotcheck · 24/12/2022 09:19

I’m not sure what’s wrong with it- it looks like a young woman, but I wouldn’t say overly young. And it’s illustrated, so artistic license was used.
I don’t get it?

It's a distorted image of a woman. I haven't seen the ad, but that screenshot is a bit disturbing and I wouldn't like it either.

Smurhee · 24/12/2022 09:23

I hate this ad and see it a lot.

WomanhoodIsABirthright · 24/12/2022 09:24

I don't get how MN don't know who is advertising on its site 🤔

mynameiscalypso · 24/12/2022 09:25

I see this quite often too; it really freaks me out.

Me too! Find it disturbing.

BertieBotts · 24/12/2022 09:26

You can just press on the little triangle in the bottom left and it should bring up the URL without having to mess around with airplane mode.

42isthemeaning · 24/12/2022 09:26

I posted about this yesterday.
It caused a bit of a stir!

picklemewalnuts · 24/12/2022 09:27

I get that one too, and agree it's disturbing.
She's looking up in appeasement, has that weird Japanese fake orgasm face on.
Babified features- big eyes.

42isthemeaning · 24/12/2022 09:27

It's an ad for TikTok, by the way.

But your racism isn't disturbing in any way at all 🤨🤨

picklemewalnuts · 24/12/2022 09:35

No, not racism. It's a Japanese, anime type thing. I can't remember the Japanese word for it. I'll look it up and get back to you.

@PaintByLetters Ahegao.
It's not racism to refer to a Japanese word.

RudsyFarmer · 24/12/2022 09:38

The jump to racism is just constant on here.

I don't get how MN don't know who is advertising on its site 🤔

They're AdSense.
The site puts code in the page and ads are shown that are based on the person viewing its browsing history (unless they have that turned off, then it's random stuff).
It's not the same as the advertisers that directly pay Mumsnet to place adverts.

Maybe because there is so much of it on here. Ever thought about that?

AutumnCrow · 24/12/2022 09:48

AdSense has recently decided that I really really want to buy £730 men's boots. I honestly don't.

Notanotherone6 · 24/12/2022 09:58

Never seen it personally, but women seem to like putting these shitty filters on themselves. Can't see the issue really.

The ads are mostly aimed at you rather than being generic Mumsnet ads.
Your personal history of browsing determines many ads.
I saw a lot of chicken feeder advertising 6 months ago as I'd been researching them.

PikachusSmarterBrother · 24/12/2022 10:12

Oh, I didn't expect many replies.

Thanks MN, I'll see if I can get the URL. Or maybe someone else on the thread that doesn't like it can if they see it 🙂.
