AIBU threads

Every time I start an AIBU thread (which I know I shouldn't really) there are always a number of people who come on and say "god how can you even worry about something so trivial" "how can you get upset about this"

The thing is, quite often I am not actually that upset or worked up about the issue, it's more a case of debating/canvassing opinions. So what I'm saying is AIBU to think that starting an AIBU thread shouldn't necessarily elicit these responses?

emkana - I agree. Sometimes it seems as if people forget that just because it's online they still need to be reasonable and/pleasant/kind - I don't think friends in rl would snap back with such dismissive anwers imo. Don't all lynch me please.

Enid, thank you. Genuine question: Would you still think this if you didn't know about my "background"? If I changed my name and posted all this, would you still see it that way?

I'm just wondering if my combination of being German (aren't they renowned for deep overanalyzing? ) and having worries in my life (ds and all that) make me sound unhinged when it would appear quite normal when posted by other people.

You see Emkana, you can never tell what direction your thread will take once you've hit the "post message".

I like Hecates' idea. I think of chat threads as lighthearted & hoping to amuse others, rather than a place to rant. Although it's a good place to moan considering that the topic has a limited thread time.

Emkana, I know where you are coming from - why can't you share an opinion on something that you don't really care about THAT much but still have a bit of an opinion?

eg I can't honestly say I have lost sleep, but I would share in a AIBU to er... think it is rude not to say thank you to a busdriver. Cos I have an opinion. I wouldn't post on a AIBU to want the toilet seat down because I don't have an opinion either way...

Maybe I think too much too, but I'd say I worry about (worrryingly?) little. I do have an opinion on just about everything though

Umlellala, you sound like my kind of gal
