Want to be a Mumsnet Tech?

DSC, Mumsnet's technology partner, has a vacancy for a full time Java developer, to work solely on Mumsnet.

The position is based in North London, with some possibilities for working from home and/or flexible working hours.

We're looking for someone with an excellent level of Java programming ability and the ability to write concise, efficient, maintainable web applications. Additional supporting skills required are detailed knowledge of SQL, HTML and CSS. No previous commercial experience is necessary, but you will be expected to be able to demonstrate your technical skills. If you can provide examples of projects you've worked on online, that would be great.

Above all, this role would suit a well rounded, bright and enthusiastic person with a wide range of technical skills. Additionally, you can expect to gain exposure to a variety of modern web development tools and techniques, learning from other experienced and successful members of the team.

Mumsnet is a well established but still fast growing parenting website with over 350,000 monthly unique users. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented developer to shape its technological future.

If you'd like to apply, please do so here

Will it pay as handsomely as dh's current contract?
[hopeful but doubtful]

weebleswobblemoreonboxingday · 01/12/2007 15:17

I can't do anything that is required but make a wicked oreo cheesecake. Should I apply anyway?

JustineMumsnet · 03/12/2007 13:01

Bumpety-bump - please do pass this on if you know anyone who fits the bill (or we might be forced to shut down )

NotQuiteCockney · 03/12/2007 14:59

I could be tempted, maybe. I'd be more tempted by working from home. Will have a think.

I've got Java, and some HTML, dunno what CSS is. My last techie job was development at Goldman Sachs. I did vaguely mutter at Tech about this, kinda. I'm a good coder.

I live in East London. Oh, and JJ knows me irl, a bit.

Your original job link has gone wrong, just has a blurb about DSC on it.

Tech · 03/12/2007 17:09

Hi NQC, the first link is a link to DSC's home page - the link to the application itself is the one at the end. Ta.

I think DH can do all of those things.
But he spends his time gaily programming DNA sequence analysis packages
I will try to persuade him a change of career would be interesting

Prunie · 07/12/2007 07:28

I would try harder is I knew it was a six-figure salary [hopeful]

robinpud · 07/12/2007 07:32

Is the anorak included or do you have to provide your own?

LadyMuck · 07/12/2007 08:33

What did they do to Tech at the Christmas party?! [Hmm] Why do we need a new one?
