Separate Talk/ Boards for Selective or Independent Education?

Of 4188 secondary schools in the UK, 163 are Grammar Schools (selective), and around 7% of children attend private fee-paying schools.

I think the 93% state, and 96% non-selective would prefer not to trawl through endless threads about the11plus and which private schools have the best character-building small classes. It is so unrepresentative of the population as a whole and such a misleading take on the educational landscape in the UK.
Those who do choose to or wish to go down this route might feel better and less "got at" and defensive if there were separate boards for Selective (Rejective??!) or Fee paying education.
Or is it just me...?

We'll pass this idea to the relevant departments. Thanks @Iamagree

Iam I think these things go in phases throughout the year. At certain times, the boards are dominated by 11+ or waiting lists for private schools, at other times they focus on other things.

What makes me laugh is when people put thread titles like 'What is Kings like?' as if everyone will know precisely which Kings they are talking about. Smile

Then also, a lot of school issues are the same irrespective of the school type. I wouldn't like for the private parents to feel they couldn't/shouldn't post on general threads just because there was a board for just for them. Neither would I like to miss out on the insight of those parents on the main boards.

Yes, I suppose you have a point, and of course we don't want vair exclusive "selective" boards! But it feels a bit like a privileged echo chamber at times and it would help my blood pressure Grin

Iam I do know what you mean, there certainly are a lot of threads at the moment. It will calm down, it always does. Smile
