List of MNers who would anonymously donate to MN

I didn’t get chance to post on the subscription thread but share a lot of concerns raised both there and on the related FWR thread re a subscription. Please post here if you would rather make an anonymous donation to MN than subscribe. You don’t need to put your reason.

I’d rather go to another forum than donate to a very profitable business where all the content is generated by the users! I’d rather give £2 a month to cancer research.

AuntieStella · 12/04/2020 19:11

A two-tier system is “not in the spirit” imo

Agree

StarintheMorning · 12/04/2020 20:00

I would donate. I will not subscribe.

SciFiScream · 12/04/2020 20:14

I'd donate in a heartbeat.

Am still considering subscription though I think too expensive. I would subscribe at £2.99 per month.

Pertella · 12/04/2020 22:53

I would donate a) if it were anonymous and b) necessary to keep mumsnet online after all other expenditure had been cut to a minimum.

I'm not donating to allow people to keep their high salaries, bonuses, etc.

SoapIsYourFriend · 12/04/2020 23:19

I'd do a one off donation through a reputable third party.

would donate a) if it were anonymous and b) necessary to keep mumsnet online after all other expenditure had been cut to a minimum. after this though.

GCAcademic · 13/04/2020 08:26

Me. Happy to give money, but I don't want any of my details held by MN.

SomethingPhishy · 13/04/2020 08:34

The subscription is too expensive. I would pay a lower fee of £15 a year, maybe £1.99 a month for ad free use with maybe exclusive competitions or early access to the testing surveys. I honestly don't think a two tier system where some can edit posts is the way forward. Mumsnet has been partly built on the free content provided by the people posting on the forums. I accept there are costs involved with maintaining the site but the current fee structure feels too high for me.

testing987654321 · 13/04/2020 08:37

I would donate, but not subscribe.

popehilarious · 13/04/2020 08:38

I'm happy to donate if needed, but don't want to have my irl details linked to my mn account

GuppytheCat · 13/04/2020 08:41

Yes, I would donate anonymously, but as my previous details were grabbed in the Jeffrey thingy, and after the crappy Emma-the-intern affair, there’s no way I’m trusting this site with my name and home address.

Mner2000 · 13/04/2020 10:27

Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. For info, MoleSmokes has also started a thread asking MNHQ for further clarification on data protection and security.

I’m happy to donate, but don’t want my bank details linked to my MN account in view of previous data breaches. I don’t want a 2 tier system, don’t care about fewer ads or edit function.

Slychomping · 14/04/2020 20:28

Ditto what Mum4MrA said!

Vitaceae · 15/04/2020 05:36

Recently I've been happy to donate to two places/groups that have admitted they're struggling because it would upset me (and the DC) to see them go under.

But MN? I just don't feel comfortable paying for annual subs. Sorry but if MN eventually goes entirely behind a paywall then so be it. I don't use the site enough these days to warrant that sort of money. And besides, we're going to be struggling financially if this goes on much longer.

soundsystem · 15/04/2020 05:45

Yep, me

WotchaTalkinBoutWillis · 15/04/2020 14:02

Not very anonymous is it?

Grin That made me do an actual laugh, sorry Grin

erm..............yeah, point well made lol

DroppedBoxxedRuth · 15/04/2020 14:04

I would prefer to donate.

Langsdestiny · 15/04/2020 14:07

I would don

Langsdestiny · 15/04/2020 14:08

HmmI would donate but wont subscribe.

ginghamstarfish · 15/04/2020 14:31

Not in a million years! Charities are worth donating to, a large company with wealthy owners/shareholders is not, particularly when those being asked to pay are the ones creating much of the content.
