Not sure if it's just me but there are so many comments/follow up comments I would like to hit 'like' on but don't necessarily feel the need to comment.

Come on Mumsnet get to it Grin

No thank you. We use our words. [Brian Sewell face]

MarthasGinYard · 19/04/2019 20:10

Thanks Esther

But it's a no from me....

Sparklingbrook · 19/04/2019 20:13

It's a no from me. This is MN Talk so the whole point is having a conversation.

Smotheroffive · 19/04/2019 22:15

I'm not in favour of simply judging a post.

Like many have already said, its about engaging in discussion, not superficial judgements

MuttsNutts · 19/04/2019 22:19

No, for reasons already given.

BeUpStanding · 19/04/2019 22:20

No - definitely not!

DramaAlpaca · 19/04/2019 22:20

Another no from me.

Samcro · 19/04/2019 22:21

please no

WorraLiberty · 19/04/2019 22:24

I wouldn't mind a like button

I think there are a fair few others who wouldn't mind it either from what I've seen in the past, but not as many 'for' as there are 'against'.

I think those who wouldn't mind it, just don't bother posting to say so anymore, as they know it's still an unpopular idea.

MrsKrabbapple · 19/04/2019 22:26

I wouldn’t be able to use the site if this was a thing. It’s a conversation for me.

And there is too much opportunity for judging people and hurting people with a simple click.

Greensleeves · 19/04/2019 22:27

nope

Smotheroffive · 19/04/2019 22:29

There is already far too much superficial judgement.

Why be like the others Farcebook and so on. They are losing popularity now, and conduct a lot of illegal activity, not something to aspire to or model.

Letthemysterybe · 19/04/2019 22:30

a forum where people genuinely engage with each other

I’m not bothered about likes or dislikes, but I actually find it much easier to engage - or follow a conversation - on Reddit. Threads on mumsnet can be really hard to follow and I’m always scrolling up and down to see who is replying to what.

ticketsonsalenow · 19/04/2019 22:46

I think I would find a use for a 'like' button actually. Sometimes I start reading a fast-moving thread that already has hundreds of replies, so it would be a bit daft to type a post just to mention that you agree with a comment 300+ posts earlier. Especially if the thread has already gone off at a wild tangent (as they frequently do).

But on the other hand, I can see that there are disadvantages too.

AuntieStella · 19/04/2019 22:54

Please NO

I like MN because it doesn't have things like a 'like' button (or ability to quote whole posts) so people actually have tomcontrivpbute by writing something (and C&Ping to quote only the parts that are actually relevant to what they want to say).

There are oodles of other sites with different functionality that people can use if that is what they want.

The 'like' button idea was put to a poll not so long ago and resoundingly rejected. Please don't keep asking!

iVampire · 19/04/2019 22:55

No thank you

gleegeek · 19/04/2019 22:59

No thanks Smile

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 19/04/2019 23:07

No I don’t want what I say put to the public vote thank you, this is not the Daily Mail, I think it would stop me posting if this was introduced.

WorraLiberty · 19/04/2019 23:11

Please don't keep asking!

Why shouldn't people ask though?

If the majority still don't want it, then it's not going to happen.

Butterymuffin · 19/04/2019 23:18

I wouldn't like it, thanks.

64sNewName · 19/04/2019 23:22

Nooo

ItsAGo · 19/04/2019 23:25

Another no here. I like reddit and use it but I come to mumsnet for its simplicity
