Quiz: who should I vote for?

Hi all

The election is nearly upon us - this Thursday we'll be voting in the party which will govern for the next five years. If you're still undecided - or want to double check that the party you're voting for does actually match your views and values - have a look at this nifty tool we've borrowed from Represent, a social enterprise whose declared mission is to modernise democracy.

Answer some simple questions, and the quiz will tell you which party's manifesto is most closely aligned with your views on important issues. Plus, you'll be participating in a collaborative digital democracy project: Represent anonymises the data and makes it publicly accessible after the election, so the person who eventually becomes your MP can see what their constituents really care about. The idea is to make sure that everyone's voice is heard - not just in the run up to the election, but well beyond it.

Have a go, tell us what you think - and don't forget to share if you like the idea.

Apols - we've fixed a small glitch and it should be displaying fine on mobile now.

Hi all - thanks for the feedback.

On the sign-in issue - there's a strong argument that creating an account actually allows more protection of your data, in that - unlike the other quizzes where you have no control of how your information is used - you can delete your account and your data at any time. Represent also adhere to the very strict EU General Data Protection Regulation legislation which becomes law next year.

Sign-in also makes the other aspect of the tool - getting your voice heard well beyond the 5-yearly election frenzy - more achievable. Because your account is verified, your MP knows that you're not a bot or a hired teen - so your values and opinions carry more weight than, say, a one-off petition. This autumn, for example, Represent are working with Parliament and all the new MPs to get their users' voices hear on the Bills going through the House of Commons - as Conservative MP Anne-Marie Trevelyan said, that's game changing.

But this is all useful feedback - we know that Represent are listening too, so thanks again.
