I see Northern Irish posters are looking for their own section on Mumsnet.
May we have an Irish section please ?There appear to be lots of Irish posters on this brilliant forum.

Hullo,

What would your suggest that we call it, if we do go ahead...?

ASheepInWolfsClothing · 12/07/2016 13:03

Right cailíní time to get our thinking caps on!!

Chippednailvarnishing · 12/07/2016 13:04

I'm still up for Mammiesnet Grin

FurryDogMother · 12/07/2016 13:12

Just popping in to offer my support for an Irish section, too :) Am English, but have been living in Ireland for 17 years now (mostly). Not in Dublin!

MsHaveNaiceHam · 12/07/2016 13:17

Oh Craicnet, it has to be!

Great to get a response from HQ.

I'll have to come up with a new user name for the main boards to preserve my anonymity....cos we all know that we're going to be connected in some way on here. don't we?

My first trip overseas, landed in New York on a J1 visa and headed out with my friends, to sample the bars in Queens.
I started chatting to a guy at the bar, he was my aunts neighbour.

I just don't think that happens in other countries, does it?

I like craicnet too.

gingercat02 · 12/07/2016 13:47

I vote for craicnet too and for it to be all Ireland (I'm from the North but in England so not sure I get a vote)
In a bizarre you're never far from Ireland moment, I was at a bbq at the weekend at an ex college of DH house and meet a boy man I was at primary school with a few 36 years ago and haven't seen since!

gingercat02 · 12/07/2016 13:49

Promise I'll learn to type and proof read if you let me in Blush but you get the jist

PlanBwastaken · 12/07/2016 13:52

Agree with Ginger, Craicnet and all-island gets my vote!

Was thinking about Eirnet, but no...

KittyOShea · 12/07/2016 13:57

Craicnet and all Ireland vote from me too. mainly because I'm one of those weird childless MNers but I love the craic

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2016 15:22

I don't mind what it's called, just would be really happy to get an Irish section Smile

CremeEggThief · 12/07/2016 15:56

Craicnet is my first choice. Irishnet could work too, just as Scotsnet does.

WankersHacksandThieves · 12/07/2016 16:13

Scotsnet probably wasn't our top pick. But it does what it says on the tin so in retrospect it was probably the best choice.

lilacclery · 12/07/2016 16:17

Hi all I'd deffo be interested in an Irish board here.

I've been on rollercoaster in the past but there's just no volume on it so I'm a mumsnetter now.

CaitAgusMadra · 12/07/2016 16:31

Not sure I like Craicnet, don't think it's v clear what it's for as PP mentioned and people might think it's only for fun or jokey topics and not serious ishoos.

Irishnet, while never going to set the world on fire, does what it says on the tin

ASheepInWolfsClothing · 12/07/2016 16:37

I agree with cait, while craicnet sounds fun it may not be the right name for the job! Irishnet says what it is really.

DramaAlpaca · 12/07/2016 16:48

I agree with the suggestion of Irishnet.

It's not very exciting, but covers everything just as Scotsnet does.

As others have said, Craicnet sounds like it's just for fun stuff.

hollyisalovelyname · 12/07/2016 17:30

Irishnet
Craicnet ( Grin)
CailíníÁlainnnet Wink

Maudd · 12/07/2016 17:37

I'm in. All - Ireland vote from me too.

But what to call it? That would be an ecumenical matter......... Grin

Or maybe we should have a referendum?

CmereTilliTellYa · 12/07/2016 18:07

Irishnet
Irenet or Eirnet (sounds like hairnet....)
Spudnet (I know, I know)

Craicnet is still my favourite though

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 12/07/2016 18:13

Another Scotsnetter popping in to lend support to the idea :)

geekaMaxima · 12/07/2016 18:38

Late to this part but yes to an Irish board!

Not keen on Irishnet - meh.

Craicnet is better - and any confusion as to content will be cleared up as soon as someone looks at the thread titles (King vs. Tayto, Ballyferriter in the rain, etc.)

And it's King for cheese & onion but Tayto for salt & vinegar. That is all. Grin

Carriemac · 12/07/2016 18:40

I am very excited that my craicnet suggestion my be adopted ! Almost make up for my Brexit depression

Pigeon314 · 12/07/2016 18:48

I like craicnet too. I'm a mum not a mam so I'm not keen on mammysnet
