I'm looking for somewhere to post about bicycles and can't find the appropriate topic.

There is a weights topic. An Unexplained topic. Hmm

Is there a bikes one? BikeSmile

I agree about a cycling topic. I'm interested in all types of cycling - brought up in a cycling (both socially and commuting) family but now have an added interest as ds is very into racing, both road and track.

A cycling topic would also be somewhere we could put a Tour de France thread where we can enjoy the Lycra clad bodies discuss the day's cycling Wink

SophiePendragon · 20/07/2015 16:10

I've just got back from another knackering invigorating ride to school on the Bakfiets, having finally fitted the rain cover and then being unable to get ds3 to vacate it. It was very humid and probably inadvisable.

I could do with some cameraderie and some vodka a shower.

(Not both at once, naturally.)

Come on chaps. Let's get this thing rolling! Smile

Yes please!

Mostly a mountain biker here, but don't mind a bit of road action, and TDF lycra perving technical commentary.

prettybird · 20/07/2015 17:38

Should maybe start a thread in Chat pointing people over here for traffic/support Smile

SophiePendragon · 20/07/2015 19:16

Feel free - I'm a bit hesitant in case people think I'm a pain in the neck! Smile

Oooh hello! Count me in!!

SarkyWench · 20/07/2015 19:49

Count me in.
I need some peer pressure to convince/dissuade me from signing up for a 200 mile sponsored bike ride when I've never gone further that 25 miles :)

Cabrinha · 20/07/2015 19:52

Ooooooooh, yes please! Newbie here with shiny bike would love to chat Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 20/07/2015 19:54

Fab idea. Yes please.

stickygotstuck · 20/07/2015 20:04

Another one her who thinks a cycling topic is a good idea!

The ongoing cycling thread helped me choose a hybrid a couple of years ago, the womwe there were great.

I'm now trying to turn DD into my wee cycling partner and just got my first bike rack - after much reserach. I'm now thinking I'd quite like to get into MTB a bit more seriously. Would be great to have a topic to compare notes/bruises/anything else.

iisme · 20/07/2015 20:06

Great idea.

Sarky, do it! How long have you got to train? I use to do triathlons but I can't run anymore because of a bad knee so am thinking of getting into longer distance cycles. I'm out of shape though! Did about 30k today to work and back and am knackered!

LadySharrowOfGolter · 20/07/2015 20:15

I love a bit of peddling too. I'll give you all a bump Grin

UniS · 20/07/2015 20:17

I'd find it easier to keep an eye on cycling threads if they were more often in one place.
I'm a utility/ touring/ leisure/ CX racing cyclist, with a youth road/ MTB/ CX racer child and a bike mechanic minded dh.

RhinestoneCowgirl · 20/07/2015 20:20

Yes please for cycling topic!

I use my bike for getting around (and have a tagalong to tow youngest DC)

AtiaoftheJulii · 20/07/2015 20:21

Yes please!

LadySharrowOfGolter · 20/07/2015 20:27

I own 3 bikes, mountain, hybrid and racer. The racer gets used the least but dh bought me a turbo trainer last year which is set up with the racer attached.

I haven't used the turbo trainer that much really, most of the time, I use the bike handlebars to dry my clean undies Blush

So if anyone has any turbo trainer tips that would be great!

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 20/07/2015 20:28

Yes please! Youngest twin rode his pedals this weekend, yeehaa!! So we are now all 2 wheeled and though the DTs are only 3 and a quarter so won't go too far I am SO EXCITED we can do a bit more family cycling now. Cycling topic definitely needed Grin

Iwantacampervan · 20/07/2015 20:34

Yes - good idea

SophiePendragon · 20/07/2015 21:29

Oh this is more like it! Cheers everyone Smile

Turbo tip
Look up a 30 / 40 min intervals session cycling video. Ride along with it.

SunshineAndShadows · 21/07/2015 08:25

Definitely - I was going to cycle to work this morning but didn't shift my arse and now it's lovely sunshine and I'll be stuck on a bus.
Need an arse-kicking cycle thread!
