Well hopefully we all learnt a little restraint and nobody learnt a little humility and hopefully it will never happen again. TBH

Hi there,
Apologies we didn't get back to you earlier on this. Here's an update of where we are:

We are still on notice of legal procedings from Gina Ford. This is why we have not been able to lift the ban on mentioning her books or methods on our site (explanations of why the ban and updates excepted!) The very latest correspondence we have had from GF's lawyers said that she is planning to meet with her business advisors to review how best to move forward with the matter.

Her lawyers have also written to tell us they are currently considering a seperate action against Mumsnet on their own behalf because they say we breached their copyright when we published the letter they sent to our ISP, in which GF requested that the ISP shut us down.

So we are waiting to hear what next and will keep you posted of any resolution or otherwise.

Best,
Mumsnet Towers

Speaking as a partner in a law firm I would be buggeringly surprised in FAS go ahead with the "breach of copyright" issue. What exactly is their loss in this, that publication has caused.

IM(not inconsiderable)E, lawyers like to threaten non lawyers with proceedings. Hell, I even told a bouncer in a nightclub that I was considering suing him for the tort of conversion when he wouldn't give me my bag and coat. That scared him, I can tell you....

lol anchovy

and lol mnet as that sounds like good old-fashioned pique to me

Can you sue someone for publishing a letter sent to you? Whose property does the letter become? Surely if it was sent to you it was with the intention of giving it to you, and therefore becomes your property to do with as you wish? Not that I'm a lawyer, it just seems reasonable to me.
