The Mumsnet Book of Bedtime Stories: have you got your copy yet?

So ... you may remember that, back in September 2012, we launched a comp with Walker Books in which we asked MNers to send in their tales for children, for the chance of inclusion in a bedtime stories anthology. We received over 350(!) entries and, after many afternoons' reading, much deliberation and some wrangling, we whittled them down to a longlist of 20, which we passed on to the former Children's Laureate Michael Rosen. He picked his 10 favourite, and the Mumsnet Book of Bedtime Stories - by Mumsnetters for Mumsnetters children - was born.

We just wanted to give you a heads-up, in case you missed it, that the book is now out, and available - in all good bookshops, as they say, and also via an exclusive offer on Walkers website (at the special price of £9.99 - with a limited edition print for the first 150 MNers who buy a copy). Get one, do; the stories are fantastic and it'd make a lovely Christmas present, if we do say so ourselves Grin. Happy reading (oh, and if you like it, do of course feel free to go and say so on the reviews section of any large, online retailers whose websites you might happen to frequent ).

What age group would you say it's aimed at SarahMumsnet? It looks fab but just wondering whether my youngest, now 8 years old, would enjoy it..... I guess I need to seek out a copy in Waterstone's....

Sleepyfergus · 25/10/2013 17:05

And is it illustrated in any way? I'm also interested to know what age group it's aimed at.

SmilesandSunshine · 25/10/2013 20:52

In answer directly to thread title- No, can you send me one please?

:o

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 25/10/2013 23:44

How did I miss this at the time?!?

Our local independent bookshop have it on their new books display.

purrtrillpadpadpad · 26/10/2013 17:02

Yeah, what age range is it appropriate for?

purrtrillpadpadpad · 26/10/2013 17:04

Also not to be a prat but it's cheaper on Amazon than that offer. £8.59. Just saying.

YoniMatopoeia · 27/10/2013 10:28

Marking place for age answer.

Sleepyfergus · 27/10/2013 12:25

Sleepyfergus · 27/10/2013 12:25

Hey everyone, sorry for radio silence - I was away from the internet for the weekend

Age-range wise, I'd say probably 3-7 would be the core group (my DS, who's five, loved them), but as with fairy tales, they can work for older kids too. And yes, it's beautifully illustrated, by up-and-coming artists.

ShowOfBloodyStumps, I applaud the excellent taste of your local bookseller Grin

Cheers Sarah, one for the DDs Xmas wish list then methinks.

Willemdefoeismine · 28/10/2013 08:32

Thanks for the info Sarah. I think I might see if I can get it out of the library to read to DD - with her being slightly over the recommended age-group, I'm sure she will enjoy but it wouldn't possibly be a set of stories we'd go back to time and time again, as we would have done with younger siblings or if it had been available when she was three or four years old!

Looks like a good one as a pressie for a christening or a new-born though!
