Swearing. Why?

dummad · 23/04/2013 13:21

I'n not averse to the odd 'FFS' or whatever, but it seems to me that the use of the C word is now commonplace on every thread nowadays. And i don't like it one bit.

It never used to be like this. Why the cultural shift? I never hear it spoken out loud so why is it suddenly ok to plaster it all over MN?

Is it suddenly 'en vogue' to sound like a drunken navvy? Words like cunt, snatch, twat etc are just vile. Can't we reign it in a bit?

Ooh I haven't heard nobjockey for a while.

When I was a virgin media customer I used that as my password. It totally backfired on me when I phoned them up to complain trying to be all angry and serious and the woman burst out laughing when she asked for my password.

SPsYoniTheOneAndOnly · 23/04/2013 16:34

Is the term 'fannying around' linked to the fanjo?

FunnysInLaJardin · 23/04/2013 16:35

see I knew some dragons had ornamental wings. Like chickens. Pointless teeny tiny wings when compared to body mass

IamtheZombie · 23/04/2013 16:37

SP, Zombie would think it's more like arseing around as in American English your fanny is your arse, not your fanjo.

Tee2072 · 23/04/2013 16:37

So, the OP posted, got almost an instant response from HQ, mouthed off to HQ and then left?

Good. DFOD

RubyGates · 23/04/2013 16:38

I work with small children. At work my language borders on the twee.
At home I have to mind my Ps &Qs because of the 4YO.

I don't get out much.

If I want to fucking swear on-line amongst adults I bloody well will.

HTH
Dragon

VerySmallSqueak · 23/04/2013 16:38

Can cope with any word except soiled.

Now that is fucking horrible.
Please don't anyone use it.

SPsYoniTheOneAndOnly · 23/04/2013 16:38

Zombie thanks for clearing that up. I never understood how someone could be vagina-ing about

AKissIsNotAContract · 23/04/2013 16:39

Soiled goes nicely with my least favourite word, gusset.

SPsYoniTheOneAndOnly · 23/04/2013 16:39

I'm not keen on the word 'clunge' its a bit icky

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/04/2013 16:46

I have bingo wings? Am I a dragon!? Shock Grin

TheOrchardKeeper · 23/04/2013 16:47

I'm actually 22 and do not...but will I be one eventually? M inner child is very excited by this thought! Maybe that's why they sometimes refer to old woman as dragons...it all makes sense

IllegalYoniFarm · 23/04/2013 16:47

SOILED FUCKER

VerySmallSqueak · 23/04/2013 16:55
Grin
garlicyoni · 23/04/2013 17:06

"i don't like it one bit" - Oh dear. Never mind. There there.

Better? Grin

I fucking can't stand it when ignorant cunts fail to spell their dictatorial OPs. But I try to rein in my indignation, OP. You should try that, it'll save you wrinkles.

dummad · 23/04/2013 17:59

Ok so the general consensus is that, because i raise a viewpoint point you don't agree with, i have to leave MN. You only want to mix with like minded people. All others can fuck off.

Not really in the spirit of MN is it? A forum that welcomes diversity and debate.

For the record i never contested anyones right to use the word cunt, i just wanted to know why; and if it now considered the norm. And if it is, when that happened.

I have been on MN for years; this thread to me proves what a downturn things are taking.

Many of you are acting like a load of aggressive teenage bullies who won't tolerate anyone thinking or feeling differently to youselves.

And you are the mothers of the future generation.

Lord help that generation.

The future generation that came out of my cunt are doing quite well for themselves thank you very much.

LittleMissBunnyoni · 23/04/2013 18:08

I think you'll find you are the one acting like noone else is allowed a viewpoint.

Noone said you had to leave, but if you aren't happy with all the swearing don't expect the rules to be changed for you!

Redlac; Thanks for at least explaining that in some parts of the country it is a term of endearment. I didn't know that you see.
