and direct people to a more suitable resource where they won't get told things which are clearly made up then presented as fact? It helps no-one to have idiots muddying the waters in already complicated situations.

OP posts:

should they also ban peope asking for advice on their mortgage threads?

Olympia2012 · 09/08/2012 10:14

Can be said for lots of situations not just landlord threads!

Trills · 09/08/2012 10:16

If you wan to talk to MNHQ about site policy then email them, or at the very least post in Site Stuff.

SoleSource · 09/08/2012 10:53

You judt started a thread about landlords you Idiot.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 09/08/2012 10:54

Grin Sole

WorraLiberty · 09/08/2012 10:57

Then they'd have to ban every thread about every subject in case someone said something wrong Confused

To be fair, we're all adults and if someone is going to make a life changing decision or take legal advice from complete randoms on the internet, they shouldn't be allowed out alone...

Just don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Olympia2012 · 09/08/2012 10:58

What a daft thread!

WorraLiberty · 09/08/2012 11:00

I agree

I gave that exact same advice to Beyonce at my wedding to George Clooney

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/08/2012 11:20

Don't tell me my DH, George Clooney has been a bigamist again.

Bollocks.

CrispyCod · 09/08/2012 11:22

Well Worra now I know you're lying because I AM BEYONCE and I have never spoken to you in RL.

TroublesomeEx · 09/08/2012 11:25

They ought to ban threads that detail symptoms and ask for diagnosis suggestions then.

And all the threads asking for parenting advice.

And all the threads asking for advice on whether they should travel to a particular country with a baby

All the threads that ask if 50 Shades of Grey is worth reading...

In fact, all threads which elicit unsolicited advice/opinions from strangers!

CatherineMumsnet · 09/08/2012 11:26

Hi OP, the best place to post threads such as these is Site Stuff, really to make sure a member of the team sees it and can answer on the thread for you.

So we've moved this over, hope that's ok.

tiredemma · 09/08/2012 11:29

Im up for anything that encourages a complete ban on Parent and child parking threads....

Trills · 09/08/2012 11:30

if someone is going to make a life changing decision or take legal advice from complete randoms on the internet, they shouldn't be allowed out alone...

Or allowed to stay in alone either Worra :o

Hello.

We hope everyone already knows that no one has "expert" status on Mumsnet. This is a site for peer-to-peer, rather than expert, advice.

Obviously, there are loads of people on here who do know mightily whereof they speak but this is the internet and there is no way you can know for sure who is posting genuinely brilliant advice and who is posting made-up twaddle from their student bedsit in Peckham.

We do have a disclaimer on all our legal/money/health threads, making it clear that we do not check anyone's qualifications and that you should seek RL advice and expertise on all serious matters.
