Hello.

We have a new emoticon: Thanks

It's meant as a way for say thank you to someone for something nice/funny/amazing they've done or said. And it's in no small way inspired by the lovely Mumsnet Blanket Crew who've been agitating- very politely but very persistently Wink - for a thank you emoticon for some time now. (They originally wanted a star but we thought a bunch of flowers probably had a bit less of the 'prefecty'/'sticker chart' thing going on.)

We want to mark the arrival of our new emoticon by starting this special Thank You thread - and inviting you to say Thanks to another Mumsnetter who's made a difference to you.

Perhaps it's a Mumsnetter who has posted (or PM'd) something that helped you or supported you or inspired you ? or just made you laugh like a drain. Or maybe it's someone who's done something extraordinary for you, off-board or on.

Do come and tell us about it - and thank her/him for it - here. We're hoping for a thread full of Thanks for some truly lovely MNers.

Oh, and we've also got some rather covetable prizes - books, toys and some very cool (child and adult) bike helmets from Bell - to give away as spot prizes. Anyone who posts on this thread is in with a chance of winning - we'll pull names at random out of a hat in a couple of days' time.

Thanks, MNHQ

I've come back to also thank someone called Jennster who I haven't seen for ages but who sent me a white noise tape as I was in the midst of several months of hellish colic with my first baby. Lovely woman.

I too have had support from Hecate, when she has had her own troubles she still took time to talk to me about similar problems I was having and was really supportive.

And don't cry Norks! Grin

Thanks
Furball · 27/09/2011 08:36

my Thanks got to Littlefish

  • she has been truly inspiring and totally dedicated to losing an incredible 4 stone plus in the last 11 months and even though her journey is not over - shes still totally focused and dedicated.

LOL - I've come on to nominate littlefish and see she's nominated me. Grin

Thanks to MissPenteuth who was lovely enough to get me an orange Wednesdays code which meant that I was able to go on a last date to the cinema with my DP a couple of days before I had DD via C-Section.

We had a lovely evening and that little gesture meant an awful lot to both of us :)

largeginandtonic · 27/09/2011 09:37

MrsBlarney · 27/09/2011 10:12

I'd really like to say a huge Thanks to ThisIsYesterday for being such a sweetheart and coming to get our rabbits, when I couldn't meet her because ds1 started being sick about an hour before we were meant to go out and was really poorly all day.

I know it was an extra faff for her and I'm really grateful as it was one of those moments when I just had NO answer to what to do, or how to manage it, and she was already nearly there so it was too late to rearrange.

She didn't bat an eyelid or call me a disorganised eejit. She was very pleasant.

Thanks again Smile

MrsBlarney · 27/09/2011 10:13

Custy, that's lovely. Haven't seen SM posting in ages.

ConfessionsOfAFlask · 27/09/2011 10:40

Thanks to the brilliant babyheave who is now a dear friend. She always manages to make me laugh and I love our crazy chats about anything and everything.

Thanks to MJ, for her generosity and her friendship, who supported me while I was having a very rough patch with my family earlier this year and helped me find ways to cope with her wisdom.

Thanksalso to ConstanceSnoring, just because I like her !

TheOriginalFAB · 27/09/2011 10:43

Gincognito · 27/09/2011 10:46

Thanks to tiktok for advice that allowed my ds and I to continue bf'ing. Feels like second nature now (nearly a year!)

Thanks to SOH. She shared some very calm words with me (under a different nn) about labouring with an OP baby that meant a lot. I wish I could be her friend in rl Blush.

Thanks to all those who responded to my cry for help (again under a different nn) when I had pnd and wanted to give my baby back. I was in a bad, bad place - but one that many mn'ers know well, and your words of kindness meant an awful lot. I tend to have regular, doom-laden panics (yup, one going on right now) and you lot are great at responding sensitively.

Thanks BelleDamesansMerci

I've had a shit enventful few years and had a small breakdown on aibu after dd ruined most of her clothes, belle sent me two huge parcels of truly beautiful clothes and helped me out at a really hard depressing time, dd loves all her new dresses and tells people all the time mumsnet sent her 'presents' and I always smile when going to her wardrobe. Words can't describe how grateful I am every single day!

OracleInaCoracle · 27/09/2011 12:51

aw, Ive had a shitty difficult month with my health, and have been questioning my mn use lately, but I'm so grateful and happy to have been mentioned not once, but three times on such a lovely thread. makes me feel like Im not just the irritating bird who rants about how evil clearblue/first response are the perils of early testing. so Thanks to duchesse, deemented and largeginandtonic, you've really made my week/month.

Thanks to lilredwg, for being such a superstar, in general and all the hutters, past (whether you've graduated or not) and present for keeping me sane and the solidarity.

actually, i love all of you, even the ones i disagree violently with. except the trolls. Wink

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/09/2011 12:55

I'd like to send some thanks to frakkit if she is still around as she really helped when dh lost his job - she offered advice and worked on his cv loads. Thanks to her help dh got a job nice and quickly and hes much happier than he ever was in his old job :)

BelleEnd · 27/09/2011 13:11

Oh! What a nice thread!

I'd like to coyly offer my Thanks to the Nothing Tastes As Good As Slim Feels members. I've treid losing weight so many times before, and am so packed up to my eyeballs with food ishoos, but they're great and really give me support and perspective.

On a different note completely, bupcakesandcunting deserves Thanks for he current weightloss thread, which makes me wail... :o

yes i have named every single mnetter that replied on my panic attack thread this morning (if i have missed anyone i am so sorry) but you have no idea how much you helped me. When I have a panic attack I usually have no one to speak to, or help. So thankyou for taking some time to help and encourage a crazy lady.

AFingerofFudge · 27/09/2011 14:27

I'd like to thank Thanks cargirl who I don't know, she doesn't know me, but a few months ago her advice and a link to a website for someone else also helped me when my DS3 had terrible traumas doing poos. I knew it wasn't constipation, but was clueless as to what it was and he was so distressed. thanks to her I was able to go to the GP who swabbed and agreed he had a nasty strepA infection, and he was treated and has been fine ever since.
So here's another big Thanks

And a more general thanks to all the lovely mnetters who make me laugh, cry, and inform me on a daily basis. Corny I know, but it's true!!
