So MN HQ can have more help to figure out how people feel about the ad - post here if you don't like the ad being there. Hope they don't mind!

no

Gobbledigook · 24/08/2005 22:00

Not bothered. It can stay.

(I know this is a 'no' thread but the 'yes' thread is full of 'no' posters sticking their oar in - petty yes, bothered no)

zaphod · 24/08/2005 22:25

No.

Merlot · 24/08/2005 22:30

No

teeavee · 24/08/2005 22:40

No. It's the worst kind of advertising -
'hidden', cynical, insidious, hypocritical.
Nasty.

GeorginaA · 24/08/2005 22:58

NO

myturn · 24/08/2005 23:05

Sorry GDG, I posted on the wrong thread .

So NO, once again and for the same reasons!

No because it is disguised as an editorial mention, which implies endorsement by MN. And yet it is paid-for by the company.

No because it is an attempt to get round the law.

No because it has put respected MNrs who have given countless hours of their time supporting and informing vulnerable posters in a position where they are no longer able to offer that support. Milupa must be happy that they've run a breastfeeding counsellor off the site - a place where women were actually helped to continue to breastfeed is neatly transformed into a front for a formula company.

No because when a poster actually called their so-called helpline she discovered it is staffed by people who claim they are ex-midwives - shades of Nestle's sales staff dressed in nurses' uniforms.

No because that poster was given misleading information designed to stop her breastfeeding against her clear-expressed wishes.

Caligula, ASA covers the internet. Not sure this qualifies though as it's disguised as an editorial mention. Would be interested to see what the ASA thinks.

myturn · 24/08/2005 23:19

Well said Edam!

edam · 24/08/2005 23:21

thank you

myturn · 24/08/2005 23:22

You are welcome - you said what I felt, but much more eloquently. Take a bow.

edam · 24/08/2005 23:30

Is it OK if I just shuffle my feet a bit and look awkward, instead?

myturn · 24/08/2005 23:30

Oh absolutely - as long as you add a few appropriate too... then I will know you are being genuinly humble!

edam · 24/08/2005 23:31

Blush Blush Blush Grin

myturn · 24/08/2005 23:33

Ok, ok - don't overdo it now!!
