Right, that does it! I refuse to clean this blessed thing again - not only does it have white straps (well, they are grey and orange now)but it has a million padded crevices for food to hide in and I HATE IT! Must buy a new one this weekend and it has to be super easy to clean with dark straps or removeable ones to throw in washing machine. Any ideas?????

Having said that, I doubt I would buy a second one. So I will probably leave dd in her Tripp Trapp for longer and put number 2 in an antilop at first.

MrsDoolittle · 17/08/2005 17:12

Only because I don't think I need two, not because I don't think they're great btw

maisiemog · 17/08/2005 20:29

We just bought a booster seat, it goes anywhere, it has a harness and a removable tray, you can use it a s a little floor seat, with no danger of painful drop to floor when escaping. It also goes onto a chair for use at a table later.
I find it easy to clean, just remove tray - wash under tap, occasionally remove seat - wash under tap.
We don't sit at a table very often tbh.
Ds is 9 months.

spidermama · 17/08/2005 20:31

Trip trap if you're a millionaire. If not Ikea do a decent white one with or without table.

piffle · 17/08/2005 20:32

another trip trapp here, hose it out when its really gungy, we do dismantle it and take it to granny's house too
I love that it has not tray, Far esier to wipe the table than clean a tray!
Agree no cushions just the front bar- we;ve just taken ours off and dd was 30 mths...

spidermama · 17/08/2005 20:37

Sorry.
Trip Trapp.
I've had four kids and got the high chair thing wrong four times over.
I wish I'd bought a Triup Trapp at the begining but I bought one which sounds like yours cricket. I despised it so much in the end I couldn't, in all consience, even sell it so I know how you feel.

PrincessPeaHead · 17/08/2005 20:39

tripp trapp. your baby won't be sitting in a high chair for long (mine refused from 20 months and has moved to a tripp trapp) and the other tripp trapp that we have is regularly fought over by my 4 and 7 yr olds. and I sit on it too sometimes - v comfy! I'd say they were excellent value...

ooooh Cod, you are frivolous!

but then what do they sit on when they are 2 and refuse to sit in a high chair but are too small for a normal chair?

a tripp trapp!!

Another vote here for the Ikean Antilop. We have gone from the John Lewis basic model for around £30 which lasted only 4 months. We then bought the Chicco Mamma, HUGE, and way too big for our kitchen. We nicknamed it 'The Beast'. Awful to clean, heavy and cumbersome, in the end we sold it on Ebay (hideous to pack and get in the post office, don't recommend it).

So now we are back to basics, can't recommend the Ikea chair enough. Simple, clean design, lightweight so easy to maneouvre and a doddle to clean.

spidermama · 17/08/2005 21:01

The only problem with Ikea chair is that you have to go to Ikea to get it.

Hulababy · 17/08/2005 21:05

Another vote for the Tripp Trapp, but agree - no cushions. They just get dirty.

Love our Tripp Trapp, no being used as a chair - DD is 3y 4m and has used it daily since being 5 months. It still looks as new. I have loved the fact that DD sits at the table with us, not just to one side with her own tray. And it is very strong - we can sit on it and it holds us just fine!

Just bought a trip trapp second hand (50pounds - bargain!) for my short-arse nearly four year old. DD is in her Ikea wooden highchair because it looks nice in my kitchen. Tripp Trapp excellent for older children IMO.

aloha · 17/08/2005 22:21

I sit on our Tripp Trapp too. Hideous really, but comfortable.

Hulababy · 18/08/2005 20:35

I know Cod, but I hate the use of 3.4 or whatever instead - much prefer the months properly. To me 3.5 means 3 and a half, not 3y 5m. I always use the months online - as there is a differemce between just 3 and nearly 4 IMO. Besides she will ALWAYS be my baby

jane313 · 18/08/2005 20:39

I read a thread on here a while back and everyone raved about some wooden booster seat but I can't remember what its called.

jane313 · 18/08/2005 20:43

I think it was this one

I've got a Tripp Trapp and an Ikea one (well two actually, one in Turkey as well.)
Both are brilliant. Love the fact that I can clean the Ikea one by throwing a pail of water over it when it's propped against my garden wall.
