Breadmaker recommendations?

Does anyone have a breadmaker they like and would recommend.

I've never baked a loaf of bread in my life, but I thought it would be a good way to sneak some nutrition into DD's diet. Are they a lot of work? Easy to use? Are the expensive one's better or just have more gadgets that I'll probably never use?

Panasonic - without a doubt. VERY easy to use, very little work (just throw the raw ingredients in push a few buttons and wait).

The cheapers ones are ok, but from what RL friends have told me (and what I've tasted) tend not to make such a good loaf.

Panasonic. Very good, even good wholemeal.

Personally find it a bit of a faff to clean - there's always dough stuck in the 'paddle' (or whatever it's called) after the loaf has baked.

The SD252 is just as good - only difference it doesn't have a nut dispenser - so if you want to make nutty breads you have to remember to add them at the right time.

THere is one going on ebay, although it is up to £50 already with 20hours to go and the postage is £10 so probably won't work out any cheaper.

uwila, we were going to sell ours in a few weeks as can't take it back to the usa. Happy to give you a good price on it and then we have an excuse for seeing you and the new baby....Can't remember the brand. I'll check it in the morning.

Panasonic SD252 - no fruit and nut dispenser but I don't miss it. Breadmaker is fab though.

What?! You're moving to the USA? When did this happen?

Must admit I did wonder what was afoot when you said you were resigning from work and putting your house on the market.

And, yes, new baby would love to come meet you with or without the new breadmaker.

Hey, what else do you need to get rid of?

panasonic is the 'rolls royce' - delia recommends it!

For everyone else, I found that the Morphy Richards fastbake is nearly as good.

The Panasonic makes lovely pizza dough, too. You can put loads of topping on your own pizzas!

I found the Panasonic cheapest at amazon.co.uk. £22 cheaper than Argos and free delivery as well.

We have the Morphy Richards Fastbake which was about £40. Does really good pizza dough and bread is OK too (although I don't use it as often as I perhaps should). But a good machine if you are using occasionally like me.

Thanks guys. I have just bought the Panasonic (with nut dispenser) from Amazon. Looking forward to my tasty bread (with nuts of course).

We ordered ours on a Friday night and it arrived on Monday, so be prepared for quick delivery! It's delivered by DHL, so try to be around when they arrive as it is quite heavy if you have to go and pick it up at the warehouse.

panasonic sd-253, it's brilliant, each single loaf has been fantastic, we haven't bought bread since we've bought it. We got it on sale on amazon, worth having a look.
