Phil n teds! How much? Where from?

So I think I'm converted...

Main attraction for us is downsizing - we can get the phil n teds and use it as a three wheeler and a double therefore selling current single 3 wheeler and marco sky.

But where do I get it from? Are there -gasp- shops in the UK that sell it or is it strictly online only ?

And (deep breath) how much am I going to pay?

Had a quick nose on ebay, 'lightly used' ones are going (with doubles kit) for about £285, new singles for the same, but I'm fussy and they're in red which I don't like!

Also what do I need? Want it for two toddlers atm, BUT we're planning a second baby asap. Should I just get the baby bits now? Will they definately be available in the future??

I went to a big fancy pram shop yesterday to look at the E3. I found it REALLY HEAVY and awkward to lift when folded and couldn't imagine getting it in and out of the car boot several times a day. Also the front wheel fell off when i lifted it.
Was really dispappointed as thought it would be good for Ds and new baby.
Now am thinking about the Marco Sky but worried its even heavier......

fishfinger · 08/07/2005 21:53

Chuffed · 09/07/2005 09:25

lockets what sort of car do you have I'd have thought that the Marco would fold up slightly more compact as it's umbrella fold?

Thanks Lockets thats very helpful. Sounds like Marco Sky is out as well. I tried the mamas and papas twin aria which was very light but had the usual problems associated with a double ie cant get through doorways or around shops. The seats were also very narrow and I don't think would fit a chunky toddler ie my fairly normal sized 14 month old wearing only a t shirt and trousers didnt have a lot of space. I suspect it would have been a tight squeeze in a winter jacket.

So.......dont know what the solution is...apart from only have kids 3 years apart

MarsLady · 09/07/2005 17:51

so can none of you lift anything heavier than a feather then? Cos I don't find my gorgeous, lovely, wonderful, Marco heavy.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 09/07/2005 17:58

Has lockets gone off the marco already?????? OH GOD! Dont know what to do now!!!

sweetkitty · 09/07/2005 18:04

I'm going to have a look at an E3, it's far too confusing!

misdee · 09/07/2005 18:05

sweetkitty where are you?

mine is heavet to lift in and out, but no more than an usualy tandam. but it is easier to push. and shorter than most tandems.

sweetkitty · 09/07/2005 18:08

I've recently moved from London to Ayrshire in Scotland misdee a wee bit far from you. We have a Clio right now but are going to trade up before no 2 arrives so will have more boot space. I tend to do more walking/jumping on the occasional bus as DP drives the car to and from work.

misdee · 09/07/2005 18:12

where abouts in london? am often in harefield/hillingdon.

misdee · 09/07/2005 18:12

and can do a return trip to king x in 40mins whebn trains are ok.

sweetkitty · 09/07/2005 18:27

sorry hun I'm now in Scotland you are more than welcome to visit though

misdee · 09/07/2005 18:31

sorry read it wrong, thought u said you moved to london.

sweetkitty · 09/07/2005 18:34

it's ok thanks for the offer though

geogteach · 09/07/2005 19:00

OK so E3 is not the lightest to get in and out of car (not sure what double is though) but I can push it wth DD (2), DS2 (9months) in it with one hand and hold the hand of DS1 (4)and I can't do that even with my single maclaren. It is very easy to manoeve

sweetkitty · 09/07/2005 19:03

so you would deffo recommend one then geogteach? am still debating the cost, also when baby no 2 is in the second seat are they not really low to the ground and almost banging off the kerb say if you were to climb a high kerb (if that makes any sense at all)?

Ragtaggle · 09/07/2005 19:13

Just bought one today with the toddler seat/baby combination and double rain cover in rubadub in crouch end. They did that for £350. as long as we paid cash (Apparently saving £37.00 this way) I'd be interested to know what other people are paying for it. We met a friend in the street who has just bought one there too and sold his car (fully insured with MOT) to pay for it - which, hilariously, he didn't get as much for. Bloody expensive but I'm hoping the fact that it converts to a single pushchair means I'll be able to use it for four years!

misdee · 09/07/2005 20:09

cant remember what i paid for mine for that conbination, was about the same from kiddicare i think.

cqan definatly recommend it. have never bumped dd3 head on a kerb, or kicked her in the head etc whilst using it. and the hammock section rocks to and fro sending baby to sleep.
