Internet connection crap keeps crashing GRRR

Oh, tell me about it! And when you finally get through and find a really nice top for your 8 year old ds you click on "buy", wait another 10 minutes to get through and then find that it's only available in age 12-18 months in bright pink. I've given up, so two fingers to Johnnie.

Finbar · 27/05/2003 21:16

Haven't reid yet myself - but do't think i will now! Anyway codswallop how are you? Crap day today weatherwise eh? Took I and J to Wardour castle for a run around...then returned and cleared up DD's room and even persuaded her to throw stuff out!!

Jimjams · 27/05/2003 22:55

I can never read the text on the Boden website - it comes out as tiny on my computer.

scoobysnax · 28/05/2003 08:44

I spent hours last night with the inadequate website, only to decide that the sale stuff is all useless - the wrong stuff in the wrong sizes. And that's why it's in the sale of course.
When will I learn!

SoupDragon · 28/05/2003 08:47

Why doesn't it tell you the size/colour availability on the first screen for each item? Does DS1 look like the sort of boy who'd like a dusky pink pair of trousers? It took ages to find that out too. I gave up - they don't deserve my money!

aloha · 28/05/2003 09:27

Jimjams, I had exactly that problem - on my mac. But if I go in through Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 I can read it. There is also a way to adjust the type size which Boden talked me through, but I just don't have the kind of brain that allows me to remember that sort of thing (female brain, I think they call it!).

codswallop · 28/05/2003 09:51

got waterproofs - how boring I have become

soupdragon

completely agree with you there - I ask you -dusky pink moleskin jeans - took me 35 minutes to get to the point where I knoew the colour available - last night put me off Boden all together and normally I order loads to avoid going shopping.

Ever been to one of their 'real life' town hall sales - what a nightmare - I'm sure people bring their toddlers in backpacks to use them as weapons to get to the baggy pull ons! Never again - I actually walked out within 10 minutes thinking that a sving of £20 just wasn't worth a saturday morning of stress like that.

bettys · 28/05/2003 10:32

Managed to get a pair of suede shoes for £20 but it did take an hour of trying. Wouldn't have bothered if I hadn't got to work early and had nothing else to do.

hoxtonchick · 28/05/2003 11:07

And there was I thinking I was the only one who was being messed around by that wretched website. So much for buying a cheapy skirt for my brother's wedding... Maybe it crashed 'cos all we mumsnetters were on at the same time!

hoxtonchick · 28/05/2003 11:14

Well, just went to have another look & it's working much better today, probably because everything is sold out. But it meant I panic bought a skirt which looks a bit mad. Arrgh.

Jimjams · 28/05/2003 13:55

aloha- that's it! I'm on a Mac- thanks for the tip!

What sort of dress were you after... the SoupDragon Dress Agency has a lovely knee length duck egg blue silk & linen dress. Does not mix well with small children & muddy puddles though.

lisaj · 29/05/2003 20:26

Don't wish to sound smug, but do you realise that they actually had all the sale stuff available before 8am on Tuesday? I tried the site at about 11pm on Monday night and managed to get a few things and it didn't take too long. The stuff also arrived today, which I thought was pretty good going.

tamum · 29/05/2003 20:34

Yes, lisaj, I'm sure you're right- I thought from the emails it was something different, but when I got through it was exactly the same stuff they've had in the sale section for months. Just hype really!

codswallop · 29/05/2003 20:56

still no e mailconfirmation for the wallops waterproofs. Smug Middle class bastard...

They've got some beautiful floaty numbers in Dorothy Perkins that I'd kill to have an excuse to get!

codswallop · 30/05/2003 12:16

aha they are in the warehouse

codswallop · 07/10/2003 09:45

Is there anyone else out there who hates the Boden catalogue? Maybe it's because I'm a skint academic, but I don't know anyone who has the money to buy tea dresses or flouncy retro skirts. And where do they wear them? To work? To Sainsbury's? While hoovering? Sorry to be grumpy, but I'm feeling particularly unglamorous today, in a fetching 4 year-old top fleecy top from Woolworths in Mafeking.

codswallop · 07/10/2003 15:57

they wear them to county dos.

OP posts:
codswallop · 07/10/2003 15:58

I hate the prose that goes with it. I only buy boys stuff and not much of that (££

OP posts:
codswallop · 07/10/2003 15:59

and here is an exapmle of it. I am now going to do an obscene hand gesture.

There are enough difficulties in modern life ? finding a parking space for the Range Rover, deciding whether to go skiing once or twice this year and, of course, choosing what to wear in the morning ? so we thought we should offer you a really easy piece of clothing.
