if so, are they worth it? do they fill you with joy everytime you use it or do you wish you had spend your money on some aluminium and decent gears.

i thank you and await your responses.

'Evening bike ponce' here.....

I have a Pashley. I love it. I find it much more comfortable than any other bike I've ever had. BUT I do not use it extensively. Nipping to shops. The odd cycle round the park. And I just love the "look" of it so much more than other types of bikes.

Not sure that's going to help you much but that's my contribution....

ZakuroFujiwara · 24/06/2009 19:18

Oh - and I have the Princess Sovereign - if that info is any use to you...

chevre · 24/06/2009 19:56

thanks you princess ponce!

i am considering this poncing machine

princess sovereign is lovely but i felt abit hemmed in behind the handle bars.

this one is lovely but i really need a back racky thing

I have my mum's old bike currently but have started lusting after a more old fashioned bike with a comfy seat and lovely handlebars, and no way your trouser legs get tangled up in the chain
I love those pashleys, they are made near us [proud]
I am saving for one

traceybath · 24/06/2009 20:08

I would love a pashley - they are just so lovely to look at. But then i'm all style above substance

DarrellRivers · 24/06/2009 20:09

It's the only way forwards TB, I'm just practicing on my mum's until I'm good enough for a Pashley
I'm still a bit wary of the road + bicycle

DarrellRivers · 24/06/2009 20:16

Right
I want a Bobbin Bobbie or a Pashley Poppy
I'm going to get one for christmas
spotted this raleigh remake of a classic in Halfords which looked very smart as well

chevre · 24/06/2009 20:51

darrell check out these babies i would get one but they are just a wee bitty small for me.

the only reason i am going for uber ponce is i am getting a tax break through work on the cycle to work scheme

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 24/06/2009 21:00

Very nice, good value but slightly less ponce factor
what's your number one choice at the moment chevre?
and this tax break thing sounds interesting ........
I an on the short side, am looking forwards to getting DH to buy me one for Christmas
am saving this thread

chevre · 24/06/2009 21:05

moodlumthehoodlum · 24/06/2009 21:11

I just bought off ebay a poncetastic Pashley trike with seats on the back of the bike for the children.

I'm pretty inept on a bike, but I do love this and its dangerous enchanting way of veering to the right. But I have only ridden it properly twice.

Gosh I haven't posted on MN for ages. AND IT FEELS GREAT TO BE BACK

summerof76 · 24/06/2009 21:12

DP has got a Pashley tube rider. It's very cool and well built. I would like one myself, but we don't have a garage or shed - one bike in the dining room is enough!

Would love to get DS a Pashley Pickle when he is big enough though...

cowardlyhidingname · 24/06/2009 21:15

Dh and I have Gazelles. Comfortable and magnificent - I highly recommend them. The Dutch Royal family ride them don't you know

DebiNewberry · 24/06/2009 21:16

yes i do. i bloody love it.

bobbins generally have a back pedal brake, which i wasn't mad about.

DarrellRivers · 24/06/2009 21:18

Yes, was freaked out by that on one bike i tried out, so will remove bobbin from my short list
the trikes are cool, have been looking on ebay

chevre · 24/06/2009 22:13

which one do you have debi?

OP posts:
chevre · 24/06/2009 22:16

I have a Velorbis - v similar to Pashley as I too am style over substance but boy is it HEAVY! Wish I'd kept hold of my £15 ebay Raleigh. Love the seating position, love the retro styling, love the little tool kit on the rear rack but lugging it up and down steps or even just in and out the house............

Not been on it since I was 7 months pregnant, can't be arsed and will be selling on ebay this summer to fund holiday spends.........

ladders · 24/06/2009 22:32

I am a Pashley!!
But sadly I dont have one...............

DebiNewberry · 24/06/2009 22:46

i've got a black princess sovereign.

chevre · 24/06/2009 23:18

i am swaying toward teh sonnet!

bloody bobbins charge 10% to use the cycle scheme, cheeky sods
