So if I'm not buying a tea bag holder what else can I buy? Postage is a bit steep for an e-cloth.

I just ordered 2 teabag holders, one for MIL and one for my mam. I got an oven liner as my mate swears by them (and I'm a lazy slob ) and some rose oil so that I can transform plain ice cream into turkish delight icecream with that and crushed turkish delight! They did it in a posh restaurant I went to and the waitress told me how to do it.

juniperdewdrop · 07/05/2005 16:21

Oh and I got a £1 version of the e cloth from superpound and it works well. Maybe the lakeland one will work for longer though?

Dingle · 07/05/2005 16:47

Has anyone tried these

Need a few new wooden spoons and thought these looked much more hardwearing and hygienic.

basketcase · 07/05/2005 16:48

reusable oven liner is fantastic - washes easily, savs scrubing out your oven, much nicer and environmentally better than tin foil and lasts for ages
e cloths are great but cheaper elsewhere and the vileda ones are longer lasting IMHO
dunno about anything else as I haven?t been there for a while. We go to the Windermere store several times a year when visiting up there and love the cafe (pricey but a nice treat). My DH tolerates me going there as he loves to criticise the latest range of unnecessary expensive gadgets to fill up our kitchen cupboards. The mini doughnut maker is one memorable pointless purchase. As for the wooden spoon drip catching device and the real lavender scented bin lid wipes...I admit, he was right! I did buy a rather nice picnic coolbag but the banana holder was rubbish - my bananas were too big...

juniperdewdrop · 07/05/2005 17:08

They look good dingle and won't absorb stuff.

bran · 07/05/2005 17:18

I must order some more of these , I don't have sausages very often but when I do useing these stops the smoke alarm going off.

Miaou · 07/05/2005 17:22

How about:

bottle sealers
can strainers
bottle to bottle funnel
oven liner
pan scrapers

Miaou · 07/05/2005 17:26

Here's some more suggestions:

margarine tub holder
timer
weighing scales

Munchkinola · 07/05/2005 17:35

I'm liking the scales, can strainer, funnel and liner. And that margarine tub holder looks perfect for my mum

Plus lemon squezzer as dd has just droppped mine and broken it

Thanx miaou

Magipull
Rubber broom
Laundry basket with handles

lapsedrunner · 07/05/2005 18:00

Not for your kitchen as such but buy a banana guard, they look very rude but are fantastic! Basically it's a yellow, banana shaped plastic case that holds one banana and stops it getting damaged in your bag when travelling.

supermarket savers

Tinker · 07/05/2005 19:14

The Australian liquorice

miam · 08/05/2005 19:13

Thanks janh. I'm making a list of all the stuff I should be buying. How I am going to get it all back on the plane may be a problem...

GeorginaA · 08/05/2005 19:14

The burger maker - really good

Janh · 08/05/2005 19:16

Back on the plane, miam??? Where do you live?

I keep my butter in the fridge and then give a small chunk in a ramekin a 10-second whizz in the microwave. Much cheaper (and neater)!

miam · 08/05/2005 20:12

Only Scotland janh lol! dh and I are flying down to see Keith Urban in concert (who is on GMTV on Tuesday 17th - unashamed plug), so thought I could also pop in to Lakeland whilst I am there. Oooh, what an exciting weekend I have in store - Keith and Lakeland in the space of two days!!!

Tommy · 08/05/2005 20:39

I really like these
Very useful and these are great too
I'm very envious of you being given permission to spend lots of money there! My DH won't let me go in there anymore. Unfortunately we don't have one round here

this butter knife is fantastic!
also
Klippits
Australian liquorice
(dh says) straw dispenser!!
olive 'getter out of jar' tool
oh I could go on.......

Janh · 08/05/2005 21:23

Oh I know what you mean, kama, I bought one of those Utt Butt ceramic tubs with a little biplane on top but broke off the plane so sent it to Oxfam and reverted to butter...

Lucycat, I desperately need some klippits but they are so much cheaper at IKEA (can't remember exactly but eg £2 for 50 assorted sizes?) I couldn't buy them from lakeland even though the colours are nicer.

Munchkinola · 09/05/2005 07:35

Thank you everyone for all your ideas.

Should I start an Ikea thread too?

Keep them coming
