we have one. i can't deciude if it helps or not, but i rather like it

got it from myriad

JeMeSouviens · 28/04/2009 20:32

DS has worn his since 5mths, have had no major hassles with his teeth and very little dribbling. He wears it all the time and it's never been an issue. But as he's my first I have nothing to compare against.

I also use the boots or ashton teething powders which have been good.

bohemianbint · 28/04/2009 20:47

Thank you - thisisyesterday, what a brilliant website! Just ordered some, but loads of lovely things on there.

I used Nelson's Teetha powders with DS1 but for some reason I cannot find them anywhere now! Poor little chappie's got a blister on his bottom and everything, it looks so sore, but still not a tooth in sight.

Mine both had them and loved them. DDs are now 5 and 6 but we still have their teething beads - bit worse for wear but they'll probably keep them forever...

No! My friend who's a nurse and mum says calpol and nurofen...

bohemianbint · 29/04/2009 09:15

I'm wondering if it's worth getting some for DS1 as well who's 3 in August. He could do with calming down and he's having nightmares at the moment, I wonder if it could help with that?

I presume they aren't going to find a way to strangle themselves with them, are they?

DS wears for sleeping, no problems at all, he doesn't play with it either (from 5mths, he's now 23mths). It's up to you what you feel comfortable doing.

JeMeSouviens · 29/04/2009 15:12

German manufacturer recommends wearing until 7yo, so could well benefit your 3yo.

bohemianbint · 30/04/2009 15:14

Ordered one for each boy, they came this morning. While MIL was here. She could barely contain her disgust at the idea of boys in necklaces, it was quite funny to watch.

bohemianbint · 30/04/2009 15:25

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 15:29

Me too!! I'm on the verge of ordering some too for poor DD who suffers terribly with her teeth (which has a knock-on effect on her sleep and MY sleep, more importantly! ).

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 30/04/2009 15:37

Oh, so they're not for chewing? I thought that was the point of them

bohemianbint · 30/04/2009 15:45

I figure I've nothing to lose (bar the cash!) but they actually look really cool if nothing else and DS1 really likes his. I can see how they should work, will have to wait and see if they do. If DS1 suddenly becomes fantastically chilled out and calm I will report back...

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 15:48

lol @ moveit! I must admit i did think that at first but then i read the thread and discovered they actually WEAR them!

Not sure i can stand to wait for you to try them out first, BB. I need a proper night's sleep - and fast!!

silkcushion · 30/04/2009 15:52

Hello RG. How are you?

Sounds like our little girls are at the same stage. Dd is dreadful at sleeping, think it's teething probs. She was up from 3 til 5.30 this morning - Im working f/t and 34 weeks pg with no 2.

Have come home and crawled into bed this afternoon.

Will order some beads I think - desperate for a solution

bohemianbint · 30/04/2009 15:52

well lets meet back in 2 weeks and compare notes.

(I also totally recommend the Nelsons Teetha crystals - if you can find 'em!)

silkcushion · 30/04/2009 16:00

Just found some - how do they work? What is the principle?

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 16:01

SILK!!!!! Blimey, haven't seen you around for aaaaaages!! How are you?! Congrats on your PG!

Yes, it sounds like a familiar story re the teething and sleeping. I have noticed that the other half of DD's one and only molar has popped through now, but i'm not sure if that's the problem. DD had me up half the night the other day too. It's knackering isn't it!

BB - ok it's a deal. I only hope they dont take 2 weeks to come! I haven't tried the Nelsons crystals but DD used to calm right down with the Ashtons powders. Are they the same sort of thing?

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 16:02

Silk:

"It is said that the natural body warmth of the baby slowly releases essential oils from the amber, soothing and calming the baby. Warm, honey-coloured amber beads, each one individually knotted on strong thread for safety. The amber beads have not been pressed or re-constituted. Amber screw-fitting clasp (metal-free). Will also fit older children. The amber necklace is to be worn next to the skin, underneath clothing, and is not intended for chewing. We have an improved necklace design with smooth round amber pieces which comes with a lovely drawstring linen bag. From 5 months"

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 16:24

OK just ordered one for DD. Fingers crossed!

silkcushion · 30/04/2009 16:47

Thanks RG. Are you getting them from the myriad website? Might be my thickie pg brain but I can't find them on there - found them on a different site though £22 incl p and p

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 17:22

Yes i got them from the Myriad site. Just do a search for "amber" and they should come straight up. I couldn't find them either!
