Would it suit a fattie?

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 12:53

Hmmm i might need a size 4. I'm not sure tho because the only time i've used a size 4 was when i was a wrap virgin and i cant for the life of me remember how i got on with it! All i can remember was that i wanted a longer length but that was to do other wraps with and not because i couldn't wrap with it.

How much are you asking for it and do you have a pic please?

foxytocin · 30/04/2009 13:04

here and here.

I also do a rebozo/hip carry with it with a slip knot so it becomes a 'ring sling' in effect. I think it is long enough to do rebozo carries for anyone though you won't have a long tail. I hate long tails.

I also have a size 4 inka for sale if you look through the first album I linked you'll see it.

misdee · 30/04/2009 13:08

hi all just a quickie but need some advice
I want recomendations for a good sling for a big boobed plus size woman. I had a ring sling with both dds which I loved but wanted something very quick to throw on for the school run from the car and back iykwim. I have looked at a pouch sling and wondered if it would be any good.

McDreamy · 30/04/2009 13:18

I have a moby wrap sling and a hotsling. It's the hotsling I use to do exactly as you describe, chucking on the carry DD from the car to school and back. If i am going to wear DD for any length of time I wear my moby. HTH

misdee · 30/04/2009 13:26

pouch or ringsling would work nemo

i prefer the pouch for quick carries.

I was chuffed when I got dd2 on my back when she was so tiny. all by myself. now when I put her to lie on the sling just before I superman toss her on, she giggles.

RGPargy · 30/04/2009 16:09

Foxy - thanx for the links to the pics. Think i am going to go for a size 4 but I'm looking for something thinner than a Storch really for the summer months.

ChairmumMiaow · 30/04/2009 21:02

I like my hotsling for quick hip carries too. I'm a large big-boobed lady too!

RGPargy · 01/05/2009 17:26

TheNatty · 03/05/2009 21:01

Mei Tai. help me please!
ive always used ring slings, now pregnant (30 weeks) with third child and can no longer handle carrying my youngest (just turned two) on the one shoulder

was thinking a Mei Tai in rucksack carry would maybe be doable, at least for short periods.

ideas guys? whats the best make?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 21:25

Erm, what's your budget?

Eye2Eye MTs are fantastic toddler MTs, generously sized, with sleephoods, amazingly comfortable and very beautiful.

But they are expensive - around £200, and hard to find, as a handful are made once a month and sell out in about five minutes despite the maker being based in Norway.

Less pricey but also brilliant are Bamberoo MTs and Himmel MTs, both American-made, but which can be picked up secondhand on sling forums for between £65 and £100. They also have sleep hoods, are extremely comfortable and are all lovely.

A good British toddler MT is the Daisy Chain MT, also comfortable, beautiful and with a sleep hood. These sell for about £65 new and the maker has custom slots. So do the American makers but the rate of exchange makes that a very expensive option, at the moment.

TheNatty · 03/05/2009 21:55

def after cheap and cheerful, as im sure i will revert back to my ring sling once this one is here, tho might do one front one on back if feeling adventurous lol

200
DH would shoot me

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 22:11

Natty, it isn't that bad honestly because these makes do hold their value very well and they can be sold on when you've finished with them.

I'd go for a secondhand Bamberoo, Himmel or Daisychain then.

Or two other makes I should have mentioned, Melkaj MTs, which are Polish, and around £67 new, and PixieDance MTs, which are about £60. PixieDance are British WAHM made and she likes doing customs so you could pick your own fabric.

Have you looked at the FSOT board of www.naturalmamas.co.uk? There are some amazing bargains there at the moment.

TheNatty · 03/05/2009 22:45

yeah just had a quick look not much on there atm

how about joey slings? could stretch to a new one, are they any good?

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 22:59

Are you sure Natty? There's a gorgeous Bamberoo for £65 that's been sitting there for ages. It's quite low down on the board.

I'd snap it up myself if I wasn't experiencing a PP crunch!

Joeys are brilliant but they don't come with sleep hoods. If your toddler doesn't doze off in slings they would be fine because they are very comfy and the latest ones have very long straps.

misdee · 03/05/2009 23:03

i want that bamberoo mmmmmmmm actually there were two on there recently.both lovely.

daisychains are fab, and supersoft.

TheNatty · 03/05/2009 23:15

no i cant see it, maybe i cant see for looking

sleep hood would be needed i suppose, dd is still napping

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 23:17

Oh the Bamberoo I loved went down to £60 and it's sold now! Someone got a bargain.

TheNatty · 03/05/2009 23:18

AH! think i see it, purple one??
its nice, but i really need something unisex or boyish, as expecting a boy and if im going to shell out for one i should make sure i can use it for both children.

MoominMymbleandMy · 03/05/2009 23:24

The purple one is gorgeous too. And they are so comfortable.

I have a DS and I carry him in pink slings! I think it's me who's wearing it. The DS just gets carried in it!

DaisyChains are very good value. I think she's sold out of in-stock toddler sizes but you could order one. The maker is very helpful and so nice. The website is daisychainslingsltd.co.uk
