Girls clothes that aren't pink

Anyone else annoyed by the fact that almost all girls clothes available on the High Street are PINK? Has anyone found anywhere that offers more choice of colours so baby girls don't have to be totally dressed in pink all the time? It's just a personal dislike of mine but I'm sure I can't be the only one.

Agree with you - a huge choice of styles but all in pink - have they never heard of a] fashion and b] stereotypes? Gymboree used to be good but have now packed up in the UK what about H&M - quite funky for older girls stuff!

I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE PINK too and never buy dd anythig in pink. Dont need to cos every other doting rellie does so she has a wardrobe full. And I just know my sisters are doing it on purpose too.

Yes. Either pink or white (how practical) or that lilac colour that makes my dd look washed out. I am assured by parents of older girls that it gets better once they are 5. hennes is better than most imo.

Wow. That's obviously got a few of you going already. I knew I couldn't be the only person who hates pink. I'll follow up those suggestions but just to clarify I'm buying for my 3 month old so it's the baby end of girls' fashion that I'm looking at for the moment. I've seen some good clothes in Next (lots of pink but they do have other colours as well) but they seem a bit pricey considering that at this age, they'll only last a couple of months before they're too small.
While I'm having this rant about stereotypical colours, what about boys clothes that are khaki/combat - shops that only sell these colours get on my nerves too!

Next is so expensive for baby clothes. I bougth lots when they had their sale (all diff ages knowing shed grow into them eventually). dd is now 14mnths so hopefully things will get better in time.

Have to say Woolworths is the WORSE for pink IME. Have never bougth anythign in there for dd. and TKMAX do some fab and cheap and unusual clothes for little girls too.

Oh God - I agree about all the sludge coloured stuff for boys, and they've all got daft action logos as well. At the moment ds (11mo) wears mostly red, black and orange and perhaps a bit of pale blue. Eventually I should imagine he'll be begging for sludge. Hennes is my staple for him, but I'm in Germany so it's either Hennes or ridiculously expensive designer stuff, nothing in between. Not keen on Zara for babies - better for toddlers onwards. Baby Gap sale is always good in the UK. We don't have Gap here

As somebody else suggested, Zara and H & M. Gymboree do lovely clothes and its available online, www.gymboree.com, ships from the US in about 1-2 weeks, i've used the service loads and its great, really pretty girls stuff and not much pink. Also just bought a lovely blue flowery summer skirt from Gap for my 3 year old.

I actually love pink - I wear it a lot myself. But not exclusively and don't see why my dd should either.

Totally agree about pink. Rarely buy DD anything in pink (except socks to go with all the pink outfits that are hand-me-downs/presents). Its not that I dislike pink but just want some variety. Think the lilac colour does suit DD.

Agree with H&M and TKMaxx. Also try Pumpkin Patch although not cheap its certainly no more expensive than Next. Bought DD a lovely outfit - red t-shirt and blue/white stripe pinafore dress - from TK Maxx for Easter - only £7.50. Also got her a darkish blue t-shirt from OshKosh at Boots in the sale.

I always found that mini mode at Boots had some more unusually coloured ranges, not sure what they have now tho. DD loves pink and I let her choose most of her clothes. I'm also not adverse to the boys sludge, it suits ds, and at least all his clothes mix nd match easily!

Thanks for these. Will try Gap & Next in the sales and maybe H&M next time I'm in Leeds (don't have one in Bradford). Never heard of Zara. Re. sludge for boys - looks ok on next door's 10 year old who's always up trees and is really active but my 3 year old lad looks rubbish in all shades of brown and I don't want him to look too grown up too soon. I agree about the action logos - it's the really militaristic ones that do my head in. Who is it that thinks all little boys should look like soldiers and all little girls should look like fairies/princesses? Thanks again for the tips.

Those who know me well know I can't stand pink so have gone out their way to buy something else for dd - from what I recall non pink items have come from H&M, Mothercare, M&S, Gap.... SIL (who has dd and also is not a fan of pink) handed over present saying I had to buy this, its not pink - was from next and is jeans and a blue (yes blue -surely for boys only ???!!) t shirt .. can't wait till she grows into it !! Having said that, given that everyone else has bought dd pink clothes I gave up on day one saying she couldn't wear pink and does wear it most of the time !!

Do a search on ebay for your dd's size and put " -pink" in the search box and a tick for search title and description like this

It won't eliminate absolutely all the pink things, but It does make things much easier - and there's a lot more choice than the high street - cheaper too!

I don't dress 4 month old DD in much pink and I can't stand her in lilac, so I just get the clothes I like and don't care if they're boys or girls clothes. Noone usually ever has a clue what sex babies are anyway - a lady in doctors the other day said 'oh look at him' and when I said 'her, actually' she said 'But she's in jeans!' What century is this? DD was wearing a Monsoon denum jacket thing with very girly embroidered pink fairies on it and still got called he. Why do people still think baby girls should be in pink and in dresses? I nearly always put her in trousers because they're much more practical. Rant, rant. I don't get her much from the high street actually, except Mothercare.

I had a boy first, and now I have a girl I am in paroxysms of joy over the sheer choice that abounds for girls - I see all the colours under the sun, ok there's pink, but also purple and mauve and lilac - there's flowers, and spots and swirls, and glitter and party dresses with matching hats

Totally agree Twiglett! DD is a riot of, um, pink!
I have bought pink bunting to decorate her room, a pink matinee jacket and bonnet, little pink dresses, a pale pink cashmere sweater....
Ds wore baby blue, very unmacho rompers, matinee jackets, little dungarees, which do really suit dd, actually, but I just love all the cute girls' stuff. Can't wait to buy her a fairy dress!

i also dress ds mostly in stripes aloha. gap, hennes, zara, osh kosh with a healthy dose of primark & peacocks thrown in. am already excited about dressing prospective baby girl due in july.

here in paris, girls clothes are red, green, orange, lots of yellow and also blue!!!

in fact i'm wondering where i can get a pink t-shirt here ....
